Position Description:

We are seeking a Performance Oversight Manager to assist with all aspects related to performance oversight within the Client Operations team. The core function of the role involves:
  • Coordinating cross-functionally across all internal teams that have an input to performance.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for our outsourced managed service provider for performance support.
  • Maintaining and updating the firm's performance policies.

In this role, you will collaborate with various groups internally and externally, including Portfolio Management, Client Management, Product Strategy, Risk, Operations, Technology, and external service providers.

This role is based in Newport Beach, CA or Austin, TX.

Position Description
  • Provide ownership and establish overall performance policy across the firm
  • Serve as an escalation point for performance vendor and provide oversight of outsourced performance function
  • Support account-level performance inquiries via training and increased awareness
  • Liaise with pricing, security reference, reconciliation, account management, and PM Teams to ensure accuracy of performance returns
  • Review account performance for reasonableness and establish performance checks to research exceptions
  • Support the client on-boarding process related to reporting and performance measurement requests
  • Monitor operational aspects that impact investment performance
  • Document guide on performance calculations and calculation methodology for internal education/training purposes
  • Establish a diagnostic reference tool for troubleshooting common performance-related issues
  • Perform account error impact analysis
  • Assist team in performance verifications and other audit/control related activities
  • Review calculation methodology of non-standard performance for reasonableness, align with industry best practice
  • Recommend and implement ways to streamline and automate reporting processes to save time and resources
  • Collaborate with Business/Technology on any system migrations involving performance calculations
  • Perform user acceptance testing and validation for system upgrades/enhancements


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or a relevant field of study
  • 5-10 years of performance management experience, including knowledge of composite practices
  • Strong project management skills (e.g., defining scope, setting project timelines and milestones, managing responsibilities of concurrent work streams/projects, driving completion of deliverables, identifying risks, managing issues, and addressing stakeholder expectations)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Fixed Income and Alternative investment strategies
  • Strong quantitative skills, comfortable with formulas, performance measurement methodology, and risk measures
  • Experience with calculating, validating, and interpreting portfolio investment results, attribution analysis, benchmark analysis, and transaction/holdings-based analysis
  • Knowledge of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®)
  • CIPM/CFA or progress toward designation preferred
