What you will be responsible for: BASIC PURPOSE:

Using your discretion and judgment, work within Global Investment & Client Support providing interpretation and analysis of portfolio performance to help identify the factors impacting the performance of equity, fixed income, and multi-asset class portfolios. Review analytical results and research complex analytical issues. Generate, interpret and distribute attribution reports for retail and institutional portfolios to internal and external clients.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize core skills and analytical software to support the attribution functions, with a focus on supporting client reporting requirements
  • Write and review performance commentaries, adhering to MFS' attribution guidelines and provide consistent methodology and interpretation of attribution analysis for regulatory and institutional client reporting.
  • Work with and support members of the Attribution Team in producing and delivering quality-controlled attribution data/reports to the firm.
  • Work with the technical characteristics, methodologies, and operational requirements of the various attribution systems (Factset, Bloomberg) and performance platforms (Fundstation, Eagle) used in our production environment.
  • Provide supplemental analysis to support contributions to performance not captured in attribution analyses (e.g. cash, allocation shifts in hybrid portfolios, security types not handled in attribution process).
  • Work with and support members of the Attribution Team in reviewing materials generated by internal clients based upon the output of our attribution systems to ensure quality, accuracy, and the adherence to internal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide support in maintaining attribution production environments; document and review controls and procedures; analyze, propose, and test enhancements provided by vendor and/or internal technical staff; identify and resolve routine data issues.
  • Assist in the testing and ongoing review of attribution system methodologies and calculations.
  • Assist with ad-hoc analyses and other assignments as requested.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of performance measurement, performance evaluation, and/or performance attribution experience.
  • Familiarity with performance attribution methodologies and interpretation of results, knowledge of various investment instruments, working knowledge of analytic techniques and statistical concepts.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytic skills.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
