The job

The primary responsibility of the OCIO Business Unit Leader (BUL) is to manage real-time operations of our OCIO client assets. The BUL will maximize resources (analyst and automated) to achieve client/CIO satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence, and economic goals.  This high-profile position is integral to the success of the OCIO business model and requires a growth-oriented mindset.  The OCIO BUL will manage a team of professionals and work closely with all departments, including operations, compliance, research, consultants, information systems, and business development.

What you’ll do

  • The OCIO Business Unit is responsible for all client-related activities and quality control of materials for approximately 50–80 client relationships
  • Maintain OCIO investment analyst responsibilities for 1–3 strategic relationships
  • Collaborate with the operations team, custodian bank(s), money managers, and performance analysts to ensure flawless trade execution and reporting
  • Proactively develop oversight tools to allow CIOs and other OCIO team members to effectively monitor and manager OCIO client assets
  • Conduct due diligence, and develop and maintain custody bank relationships for our OCIO client base;
  • Interface with the director of client service (DCS) to coordinate scheduling and maximize schedule adherence; provide input on unit conditions, identify needs and receive direction on real-time staffing changes
  • Provide positive leadership that sets standards and expectations for the unit and promotes employee engagement, teamwork, trust, ownership, excellence, and creativity

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business related field; MBA/CFA/CIPM/CAIA preferred (or progress toward)
  • 7–10 years total of investment industry experience focused on client service
  • Performance measurement and operations experience (consulting or investment management) required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff
  • Experience and knowledge related to the liquidity and trading operations for various financial instruments, including working with custodian banks for trade implementation
  • Demonstrated expertise in helping clients align their portfolios with specific mission objectives (i.e., socially responsible investing; ESG; diversity, equity, and inclusion; impact investing, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills (ability to generate custom models) and experience with other Microsoft Office products
  • Must demonstrate commitment, dependability, and respect for other employees with regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule of availability
  • Comfort in an environment that often requires independent research, unique problem solving, and precedent-setting decision-making
