The role of the Research Analyst is to conduct investment manager due diligence and macroeconomic research to support the firm’s asset class recommendations and allocations. The duties include, but are not limited to, researching and analyzing managers on behalf of Marquette clients, maintaining expert knowledge of recommended managers, developing original research and analysis, and representing Marquette Associates externally to the investment community.

The Research Analyst will support the Senior Research Analyst, Fixed Income and work with other members of the Research team to further develop the firm’s asset class expertise. The Research Analyst is considered an expert on their asset class and research topics and will be utilized in this manner throughout the firm. The Research Analyst is called upon to drive forward-thinking research at Marquette and serve as a resource for consultants.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform due diligence on investment managers and present findings and analysis at weekly Investment Manager Committee meetings
  • Write reports, update memos, oversee search books on investment managers for internal and client use
  • Analyze overall market factors influencing different asset classes
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative analysis to support original Marquette research
  • Author articles and white papers on topical and academic research topics, as related to the capital markets and client inquiries
  • Write position and research papers on asset classes
  • Assemble and update client education material
  • Present research and manager due diligence findings at client meetings
  • Represent Marquette Associates at investment conferences, onsite visits, and annual meetings

Competencies for Success/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with two to five (2-5) years investment-related experience in the financial services sector or advanced degree in a relevant field (i.e., MBA, Law, Finance)
  • CFA Charterholder or pursuit of CFA preferred
  • Experience on the buyside or knowledge of fixed income preferred
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Pitchbook, NCREIF or eVestment a plus; ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized with ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Well-developed writing abilities with the ability to synthesize key themes and story points
  • Self-starter with strong sense of urgency, accountability, and execution
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills, ability to present information to clients and stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and react positively to change
