Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

We are transitioning to a hybrid work environment where both remote work and the office play a critical role. Our vision is a future where all employees are empowered to work flexibly to drive the best outcomes for our clients. Flexible work is a mindset and a core value. Our employees are encouraged to work remotely two days a week as a standard practice and will have flexibility in terms of working hours.

THE POSITION

Climate change is the defining issue of our time, with impacts that span the globe. Climate change as a research theme at Wellington is supported by our central Sustainable Investment research team, our multi-year partnership with Woods Hole Research Center since 2018, and our recently announced collaboration with the MIT Joint Program on the Science & Policy of Global Change. This research effort involves investors across asset classes including equity, corporate fixed income, commodities, real estate, private equity, and municipal and sovereign bond markets. There is increasing awareness that both climate mitigation and adaptation matter for financial returns across markets and to the overall stability of the financial system. These research collaborations are intended to enable our investors to analyze anticipated physical and transition risk impacts to our clients' portfolios and the strategies that will be required for businesses to remain profitable into the future, and we are incorporating these insights into our engagements as well.

Within the Sustainable Investment platform, we are seeking a Climate Equity/Credit Research Analyst, Americas (Analyst) to join our Investment Research team. The Climate Equity/Credit Research Analyst will be responsible for facilitating climate research integration into investment decisions across asset classes, in close collaboration with our ESG, equity, and fixed income research analysts. The relevance and materiality of these research insights differ across asset classes and geographies. As such, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to incorporating climate change into the investment process. The Analyst will be invited to attend and participate in investment boutique (portfolio manager) team meetings as well as sector-based analyst led meetings, develop an understanding of their individual investment philosophies and processes, and make recommendations for how climate change can be credibly and systematically integrated into each team's strategy. The Analyst will ensure that investment boutique teams are apprised of the most recent research available from the Climate Research team, and then develop and execute research projects that promote integration of climate risks and opportunities. Examples of such projects include single company research on climate impacts to revenue, operations, capital expenditures or insurance as well as credit analysis on property plant and equipment location risk and impact to valuations or analysis to quantify the costs of published transition plans for a set of peers in a carbon-intensive industry. A successful candidate will be able to translate our climate research insights into actionable, customized investment frameworks which lead to tangible outcomes that will benefit our clients.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

The following essential skills are required for the role:

Solid understanding of financial markets and ability to assess company strategy from the investor perspective. The successful candidate will have experience with fundamental equity and/or credit investing & complex analytical projects, including building tools and frameworks that connect atmospheric climate models and scenarios with financial metrics. The analyst will be comfortable with a mosaic approach, in which decisions have to be made without perfect certainty. They will

have experience working with investors, analyzing value drivers of various business models, and adjusting financial model assumptions based on changing inputs.

Climate change research expertise. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience/knowledge of key climate change concepts including emissions measurement and target setting, Paris-aligned transition pathways, physical climate impacts, and climate-aware sensitivity/scenario analysis.

Superior collaboration, communication, and influencing skills. The successful candidate will enjoy contributing to a highly collaborative investment environment and building strong trusting relationships internally with colleagues and externally with our climate science research partners. The candidate will be able to communicate recommendations clearly and with conviction to successfully influence key investors and impact their process and portfolio outcomes.

Growth mindset. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide a point of view and challenge the status quo while also demonstrating the humility to admit mistakes and a desire to learn from others. The candidate will be curious and driven to stay ahead of developing market standards in order to effectively partner with investment teams in helping them demonstrate robust climate risk management in their portfolios.
