We are working with a leading global bank that is looking to hire a CEEMEA Rates and FX strategist with 3-5 years' experience.

The focus will be on CEEMEA local rates & FX markets, including South Africa and Turkey. Any background in other CEEMEA local rates.

The priority for the role will be covering local rates markets (including swaps and bonds) and it is essential that the selected candidate can independently deliver tactical and structural trade ideas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generating trade ideas and strategies that incorporate different aspects of markets: fundamentals, flows, positioning, other technicals such as carry & rolldown
  • Interacting with economists and being literate on the macro backdrop for each country under coverage.
  • Developing & improving tools and infrastructure for EM strategy including valuation models and positioning metrics
  • Contributing to overall EM strategy with ideas and associated analysis
  • Conducting calls, 1-1 or group meetings with clients. Promoting the research output of the team
  • Interacting with sales & trading to share market views, actively contributing views to IB chats, reactions to data/comments/headlines

Experience, Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in financial markets as a buy-side and sell-side analyst/strategist or experience in trading
  • Strong understanding of products such as swaps, bonds (i.e carry, roll, calculating the pnl of positions, understanding technicals and products in different markets)
  • Ability to present views, understand and explain strategies in a clear way, strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in trade idea generation
  • Quantitative background and a desire to approach problems with a model-driven framework
  • Strong team player attitude, contribute and work together with other regions, economists, sales and trading
  • Being literate of general macro-economic theory, monetary policy and its impact on markets
  • Background in statistics and econometrics focused on model development, background on asset pricing models
  • Experience in data analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of excel including VBA, proficiency in Bloomberg and other similar data vendors, decent command on Powerpoint
  • Working knowledge on main financial engineering tools, such as portfolio optimization, simulation, factors models
