Description
The Transformation & Execution SWAT Team works with CME leadership on targeted special projects that span across organizational boundaries, are sensitive in nature, and involve significant change. The type of initiatives the SWAT team works on may involve strategy reviews, business/investment case development, go-to-market strategies/tactics, technology and operational delivery/solutions, M&A diligence and integration support, corporate efficiency and restructurings, and other broad-scale transformation initiatives.

The SWAT Analyst / Senior Analyst will play a critical support role in scoping project goals/objectives, identifying and conducting research and analysis, supporting issue diagnosis and solution proposals, building detailed approach/work plans, providing program, project, and change management support, and ultimately will share accountability for a successful outcome.

A strong interest in operating models, workforce strategy, and culture change in support of digital and product model transformations are required for this position at this time. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and help support a multi-year transformation effort!

Principal Accountabilities
  • Support SWAT Lead in determining and clarifying strategic, operational, and commercial challenges related to key initiatives, sometimes via direct immersion within an area of the business along with the SWAT Lead.
  • Undertake and lead research (industry sector, markets, competitors), and analyze, synthesize, and interpret data and statistics as well as qualitative inputs.
  • Work with SWAT Lead to identify and assess the pros and cons of possible solution alternatives.
  • Compile and present information verbally, visually and in writing to SWAT Lead and other executives to help frame complex decisions.
  • Serve in a project management capacity to help organize, plan, and inform realistic expectations-setting on timelines to deliver business outcomes. For some projects there will be a handoff from SWAT to a more traditional project execution management team, for other projects SWAT may stay involved for the full duration until the business outcomes are realized.
  • Provide change management support to facilitate adoption of new/changed solution approaches and plans.

Required Skills
  • Teamwork - Must be an extreme team player able to work across multiple divisions and departments, helping to build bridges across functions, and contributing to team deliverables.
  • Analytical Skills - Must be able to break apart problem statements to identify root cause, understand commercial, organizational and regulatory impacts; and how work that's already started may (or may not) align to the problem statement.
  • Business Knowledge - Operational, commercial and client awareness is required to analyze and recommend corrective actions.
  • Continuous Learning - The subject-matter and nature of SWAT projects will vary over time. Interest and ability to learn about different parts of the business and different ways of working on an ongoing basis will be important for this role.
  • Situational Adaptability - Thrives in a dynamic environment. Able to sense the need for a shift in approach based on the circumstances of the day, quickly make those changes, and flexibly adapt to different situations and personality types.
  • Bias for action - Supported by the SWAT Lead, team members will identify and take action, even in the face of uncertainty.
  • Project & Change Management - Demonstrated ability to organize and facilitate a structured approach to identifying the detailed steps needed for execution (holistically considering impacts across people + process + technology), and helping to align teams on a realistic path and timeline to get there.
  • Independent Research Skills - Ability to quickly collect data, perform online research, conduct interviews and fact-finding efforts.
  • Communication skills - superior written and verbal communication skills are required to convey ideas clearly and comprehensively (sometimes persuasively), while navigating internal politics professionally.
  • Interpersonal skills, executive presence, and discretion - The ability to work with different personality styles in challenging situations is paramount to accomplishing the stated goals and building long-term relationships both at CME Group and with our strategic partners externally. SWAT projects typically involve sensitive topics which require an appropriate level of confidentiality and discretion.
