Research Associate Analyst, Energy Infrastructure
National Bank Financial is a leading Canadian Financial Services company. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Bank of Canada, it is an established investment dealer that provides research, sales, trading, and investment banking services to institutional and retail investors.
The firm is seeking a Research Associate Analyst who will work directly with the Research Analyst in the Energy Infrastructure sector in our Calgary office. The position requires an ambitious and self-motivated individual with strong attention to detail and who is comfortable in an unstructured, demanding and occasionally stressful environment.
Duties Include:
- Analysis of financial statements and the valuation of domestic and foreign companies
- Development and maintenance of financial models to forecast quarterly and annual earnings
- Development and maintenance of industry databases
- Evaluation of additional information from the financial press, corporate, industry and alternative sources
- Assist in writing and editing research notes, reports, and analyst presentations
- Communication with institutional clients and retail advisors, management and investor relations team of companies under coverage, and internal equity and fixed income sales staff
Qualifications:
- An individual with previous financial modeling and analytical experience (Research Associate or Investment Banking Analyst) is preferred. A background in energy infrastructure is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and within a team under strict deadlines, with an attention to detail and output orientation
- Willingness to work long hours and weekends in an unpredictable setting
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including GeoSCOUT, Bloomberg, Reuters, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Education:
- CA, CPA, CFA designation desirable
