Job Purpose:

The Corporate Treasury Group at BNY Mellon is responsible for managing the investment portfolios and the liquidity and capital positions of the various subsidiary banks and of the Parent Corporation

The position of Capital Planning VP provides support to the Head of Capital Management and Planning, International Treasury in maintaining and enhancing the Capital Management and Planning framework within EMEA, APAC and Brazil.

The Capital Planning VP (level K) role and is based in London and reports to the Head of Capital Management and Planning, International Treasury.

Responsibilities:

The Capital Planning VP will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the Head of Capital Management and Planning in maintaining and enhancing the capital planning process across legal entities that provides forward-looking capital projections based upon forecasted legal entity activities and upcoming regulatory requirements.
  • Owning the monthly Capital related reporting process and submissions to legal entity governance forums.
  • Enhancing the capital forecasting activities across legal entities in conjunction with business partners, including providing input on relevant balance sheet and regulatory assumptions.
  • Supporting annual updates of Capital Policies for entities that are required to hold capital for regulatory purposes across EMEA, APAC and Brazil.
  • Support in developing a Capital Contingency Plan and continuous enhancements to the capital crisis management framework for entities that are required to hold capital for regulatory purposes.
  • Supporting in addressing any Capital related Regulatory, Audit or Second Line findings/actions.
  • Keeping abreast of key regulatory developments that are impacting the Capital Management and Planning process and advising / analyzing potential impacts.
  • Providing support and input to the ICAAP, High Level Assessment (HLA) and legal entity recovery and resolution plans from a capital perspective.
  • Support the Head of Capital Management and Planning and Head of Balance Sheet Management, International Treasury with ad-hoc projects/deliverables relating to International Treasury e.g. regulatory presentations/requests, strategic initiatives, Board trainings etc.
  • Supporting a live crisis simulation exercise, including scenarios, logistics, documenting results and follow-up actions etc.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and advises more junior professionals on improving their knowledge and how to address more complex or unusual capital issues.
  • Develops approaches for enhancing measurement and reporting of capital MI.
  • Ensuring issues are escalated and cascaded appropriately and supporting mitigating any associated risks.
  • Build a good understanding of the governance framework across the regions, including escalation requirements.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor/Master degree or equivalent qualification. Degree in math, engineering, statistics, computational finance or economics preferred. MBA, CFA, or CPA/CA preferred.
  • Extensive banking experience within a Treasury or Risk Management function with strong focus on capital management.
  • Superior organisational skills.
  • Awareness of treasury activities, capital regulations and requirements.
  • Good analytical, project management and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
