Who we're looking for
Reporting to the Global Co-Head of Private Assets Distribution and the Country Head for France, you will mainly serve as the real estate specialist salesperson covering both institutional and intermediary.
Working alongside the existing public markets salespeople, you will be responsible for developing and expanding new business opportunities within existing clients and new accounts, managing the sales process and coordinating with salespeople and other internal parties to ensure growth of the Franchise with regard to real estate investments.

In France we have 70 people on Distribution, Real estate and Infrastructure Finance.

The team
You will be part of the global private assets distribution team while also being part of the French Sales team.
Schroders manages ₠60bn in Private assets (21 in Real estate & 11 in Private Equity) and recently created Schroder Capital. The vast majority of the capital & people are based in Europe with c.45% in the UK, 45% in Continental Europe and 10% in Asia. As far as possible we undertake our own in-house asset management as we strive to get as close as possible to the asset. In addition to some longstanding diversified funds in the UK, Nordics, Switzerland and Germany, we have been raising specialist funds focused on thematics such as retirement living, hotels and social supported housing. We are in the process of launching new funds focused on UK Impact, Urban Living in Germany, European Leased Hotel fund, Pan-Asian Value-Add and multiple RE debt strategies.
Schroders has ambitious plans to grow Private assets AUM over the next 5 years from £66bln to £100bln and Real Estate is one of the key pillars to our growth ambitions . Privates assets growth plan is a key strategic goal for Schroders and as such has tremendous management and board support . We are looking for talented / Ambitious / entrepreneurial and experienced sales people to help grow and expand our franchise in France .

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the growth of our Real Estate business and our Private Assets division's growth in supporting the Schroders' objectives and capital raising targets for France;
  • Work closely with the Global Co-Head of Private Assets Distribution to ensure continuity of messages to clients regarding our PA initiatives;
  • In conjunction with the Global Co-Head of Private Assets Distribution as well as the Regional Heads of France & Monaco, develop and maintain a plan for the expansion of business in the respective countries;
  • Demonstrate cross functional collaboration with the other functions (i.e. Operations, Investment, Marketing & Communication) and Schroders' generalist salespeople (joint approach will be a key element);
  • Work closely with the Real Estate Capital team in London, Frankfurt and Hong Kong to ensure that you have a strong understanding of the real estate platform, capabilities and products as well as our overall messaging and USPs;
  • Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key real estate decision-makers at existing clients and prospective investors and develop deep knowledge of each organization's decision making process with regard to real estate investments;
  • Identify and respond to client needs in order to define potential opportunities. Ensure appropriate strategy and solution is proposed to the client;
  • Maintain high visibility within client organizations;
  • Cross Sell our Private and public capabilities to new buying centres at the respective investor to expand our franchise and cross-sell our capabilities.


Required skills

  • Existing book of investor relationships with the real estate/ Private Equity contacts;
  • Proven sales track record with the above investor base and demonstrable negotiation skills;
  • Proactive attitude and drive to develop senior level business relationships;
  • Responsive and strong customer focus;
  • Ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner;
  • Strong detail and results orientation and an ability to work creatively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work with other Senior Executives to facilitate joint customer development;
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity in dealing with others. Work effectively with different types of people and other teams.
  • Clear understanding of the sales dynamic and timetable around real estate as an asset class which is typically 1 month (for directs/co-invest) to 3-12 months (for a fund/club) to 6-24 months for an SMA.
  • While being able to operate 'unsupervised', you will enjoy working in a team and bringing others with you. As such regular, clear communication is essential.


Knowledge & Experience

  • Degree educated at a minimum. A masters degree, ACA, CFA or CAIA qualification will be considered a plus;
  • Demonstrable competency (ideally 7+ years of experience) in sales or business development preferably for a fund/investment/asset management firm, insurance company, consultant, placement agent or other sell side business;
  • Strong understanding of real estate and the current trends in real estate investment and occupational markets;
  • A good understanding of and experience in negotiating key commercial points related to real estate funds as well as co-investments and SMAs;
  • Previous experience in impact/ESG will be considered a plus;
  • Proven track record of identifying and securing full service business in top tier accounts;
  • Skilled in performing presentations and leading meetings;
  • Fluent written and spoken English;
