Description

About this role

BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) is a strategic growth driver for the firm and the Alternatives Digital Strategy (ADS) team within BAI is responsible for delivering scale to fuel this next stage of growth. The team is set on developing the market standard for private markets investment technology across all alternative asset classes.

BlackRock acquired eFront in 2019 to accelerate our alternatives technology capabilities to match the significant demand for alternatives from clients, with the objective to offer investment professionals a single, unified system to better manage their alternative investment portfolios. The ADS team works directly with investors to onboard their investment processes onto eFront, collaborating with colleagues across the firm in BlackRock Solutions (BRS) and the Aladdin Product Group (APG). In addition, ADS works with developers and product managers to continually enhance functionality by designing future technology roadmaps for the eFront + Aladdin product suite. In addition, ADS designs and develops tactical on-desk solutions for critical investment processes that are not in immediate scope for the eFront product suite.

The ADS team is currently seeking an Associate to join our dynamic team to work directly with investment, product development, sales, and operational professionals to digitally transform core business processes and accelerate the digital transformation of BAI's technology.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple technology & implementation projects concurrently providing both thought leadership and day to day oversight
  • Engage investment professionals to analyze core business processes and interactions within the organization and look for areas to improve efficiency through a deep understanding of investment teams' needs
  • Inject automation and speed into core business processes by implementing eFront + Aladdin technology, putting critical items on future development roadmaps, or tactically designing desktop technologies
  • Develop a single source of truth by establishing an enterprise data platform; Build data-centric self-service environments so that investment teams spend time on analysis, rather than on data manipulation and quality control
  • Deliver automated ways of interacting with the BAI client community
  • Serve as Digital Advisor to various platform excellence initiatives within the business by driving cross-team collaboration and fostering a culture of innovation using technology

Skills Required
  • 4-6 years' experience working in the alternative investments or financial services industry, specifically in technology, analytics, operations, risk management or data management
  • Advanced degree in the fields of computer science, data science & engineering, finance or accounting. Industry specific certifications (e.g. CFA, CAIA) are preferable
  • Prior experience of managing highly talented and dynamic teams to deliver creative technology solutions
  • Prior experience in the ability to gather, interpret and translate information to build and execute complex digital strategy plans
  • Prior experience in change management, implementing strategic initiatives or technology roadmaps with solid grounding in product management, user engagement and agile methodologies
  • Prior experience in one or many of the following disciplines: alternative investments, software development, data science & engineering, operations & accounting, portfolio analytics and business process reengineering
  • Platform knowledge in eFront, Aladdin or other Private Markets Technology products are preferable
  • Strong technology skills and proficiency with Excel, Python, SQL, Power BI or Tableau is highly preferred
