Regional Associate

Working with the Regional Directors, the primary responsibilities of the Regional Associate are marketing, business development, and providing best in class service to Thornburg’s institutional clients and consultants. The role of the Regional Associate is to provide support to the Regional Directors in their sales efforts with institutional plan sponsor in addition to supporting their efforts with institutional consultant relations.



  • Promote investment strategy retention and sales for the Regional Directors via preparation for client meetings and calls covering portfolio statistics, account performance, new strategy launches and market developments.
  • Act as secondary contact for Thornburg’s larger clients in support of the Regional Directors.
  • Independently provide a high level of client service for smaller, less complex consultants and plans.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal partners (investments, compliance, operations, and marketing) to facilitate best in class service and issue resolution.
  • Utilize FactSet, eVestment, and Bloomberg extensively to extract portfolio, security level, and market data for client reporting needs. 
  • Become a super user of Thornburg’s CRM, SalesForce.
  • Prepare customized materials (presentation decks, client review decks and attribution reports) for quarterly update calls and client meetings. Coordinate efforts with Thornburg PMs and CPMs on these activities.
  • Prepare analysis of portfolio performance and characteristics for internal and external use, including attribution analysis, “cheat sheets” and other ad hoc reports as needed by Thornburg’s sub advisory and institutional and consultant clients.
  • Assist with scheduling for the Regional Directors.
  • Identify and nurture prospects and work toward closing business with prospects.
  • When appropriate, meet face-to-face with existing and prospective clients to discuss investment strategies. Act as a liaison between the investment team and the institutional plan sponsor and consultant channels.
  • Represent Thornburg’s institutional group at conferences and various client events
  • Perform other job duties as necessary


  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • A solid understanding of financial markets and/or strong interest and aptitude.
  • Ability to work and interface with clients on time sensitive requests.
  • Series 7 & 66 preferred; will need to obtain if not currently licensed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Business or Finance Degree preferred
  • Progress toward CFA designation a plus.
  • Previous experience in financial services a strong plus.
