We are seeking Analyst and Associate-level individuals with strong accounting backgrounds to join our US Equity Research Department in New York City. This role is an entry pathway into Equity Research with the opportunity to ultimately transition onto an equity coverage team.
The Global Valuation, Accounting & Tax (GVAT) team provides institutional investors and analysts with insights and leading practices in accounting, valuation, and financial modeling. In this multidimensional role, candidates will consult closely with Morgan Stanley analysts and strategists and will have broad exposure to all sectors and industries. Candidates will also contribute to authoring GVAT franchise research and collaborative reports with coverage analysts. This role provides the ability to develop deep fundamental expertise with future opportunities to join an equity coverage team.
Day-to-day responsibilities may include:
  • Engaging with institutional investors and equity research analysts to solve complex accounting, valuation and modeling questions
  • Support the GVAT team on authoring franchise research
  • Collaborating with industry analysts and strategists on deep dive and thematic research
  • Implementing and maintaining valuation and modeling best practices
  • Comprehensive model reviews, including for IPOs and equity initiations
  • Coordinating regional and global research projects
  • Conducting one-on-one and small group trainings and consultations


Qualifications:

1-4 years of experience in public accounting, equity research or corporate finance
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (MAcc preferred); finance coursework and/or experience a plus
  • CPA and/or CFA preferred (or progress towards attainment)
  • Advanced excel proficiency
  • Must have exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Experience working with equity valuation & financial models a plus
