The Global Strategic Relationship Group (GSRG) is committed to working with clients and prospects around the world to develop broader and deeper relationships with Wellington Management. Through partnering closely with Client Group and firm resources, GSRG is responsible for creating, managing, and enhancing key experiences to reflect the existing and prospective relationship that these organizations have with the firm. Specifically, the team focuses on strategic engagement, knowledge sharing, and commercial alignment on key growth priorities. GSRG strives to be a proactive, flexible, and forward-looking commercial partner to the business and to our clients to ensure that we deliver on our value proposition of bringing "the whole firm" to bear on behalf of strategic relationships globally. The team has members based in Boston, London, and Hong Kong.

The Position and Expectations
GSRG has an opening for a London-based Specialist. The Specialist will work closely with Client Group Managers, senior management, and other internal resources to support efforts with global strategic clients. In addition, this role will work closely with the EMEA Client Group leadership team to strengthen and expand regional strategic client coordination and support.

A successful Specialist will have the skills necessary to assist with all aspects of a relationship while focusing on enhanced reporting, efficient and consistent coordination of strategic initiatives and project-based work, and partner with the business on commercial growth priorities and strategic opportunities. A successful Specialist will understand the client's long term investment objectives, distribution strategies and policy issues and bring the resources of the organization to bear on behalf of the client with the goal of delivering a high level of service that will exceed the client's expectations and position Wellington Management as the partner of choice.

Specialists will have interaction with clients and prospects - though they are likely to see their responsibilities focus internally to help facilitate new business, broad client interaction and reporting. The Specialist will conduct analysis and respond to inquiries on a wide variety of topics, including market and investment focused inquiries as well as distribution and growth-oriented questions. The Specialist is expected to develop in-depth knowledge of assigned books of business from an investment and distribution perspective. Over time, the Specialist will need to be able understand the client's expectations, incorporate investment and product knowledge, and work cross functionally across departments often under tight deadlines. Importantly, the Specialist will serve as a thought partner to GSRG managers and must be prepared to act as their back-up and proxy, representing the firm in a manner commensurate with those expectations.

Responsibilities
The Specialist will work closely with Client Group managers, senior leadership, and many other functional areas across the firm to:
  • Support global and regional priorities, including escalating time-sensitive matters and communicating strategic relationship trends/themes globally
  • Maintain regular dialogue with GSRG counterparts in Boston and Hong Kong, including providing back-up coverage where and when appropriate
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Client Group teams on all aspects of the client-onsite experience in London from hosting the meeting, to briefing and prepping investment and business teams, and ensuring all advance and follow-up tasks are completed to ensure a successful client experience
  • Qualify Requests for Proposal and work with product management and the client reporting team to ensure that each RFP receives the appropriate response
  • Work with the relationship teams, legal, finance, product management and senior management to qualify and implement new business and/or lead client projects
  • Assist with analytics and competitive analysis, including generating quarterly and semi-annual reports
  • Partner with senior management/vice chairs to develop, coordinate, and execute senior leader coverage strategy in regions
  • Coordinate strategic client events and networking opportunities and support marketing efforts including managing internal and external materials
  • Focus on knowledge sharing, specifically developing training programs and framework for select research sharing
This role provides an exciting opportunity to be a part of a global team focused on one the firm's strategic initiatives. This position may offer occasional opportunities to travel. Due to the international focus of the position, some flexibility with respect to working hours will be required. The position will report to Hilary Johnson, Director, GSRG.

Qualifications
The GSRG Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment requiring focus, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, good project management/logistical skills to ensure efficient and coordinated execution across time zones, a global mindset, and the ability to learn quickly and manage simultaneous projects. The job entails extensive written and analytical work, thus proficiency using both Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required and experience with Salesforce is a plus. A large portion of the work is self-directed and requires an individual who can work independently under tight time constraints and evolving priorities. Professional and personal maturity is a must given the position will have frequent interaction with senior leadership (internally and externally). The Specialist should be technologically savvy, and open to pushing for new technologies for our clients to provide them with more data, and information faster and easier. A positive attitude, terrific work ethic, and very strong attention to detail is required.

The successful candidate is likely to have:
  • Strong academic credentials, coupled with progress towards (or willingness to pursue) a relevant professional qualification, e.g., CFA or MBA
  • 5+ years of relevant client facing experience
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of capital markets and/or investment products
  • Demonstrated ability for project management and reporting
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong networking and collaboration skill set
