About the Role – Product Marketing Specialist

Thornburg seeks an experienced Product Marketing Specialist to develop and distribute consistent and compelling product messaging & content in support of marketing and sales efforts with institutions, consultants, and financial professionals around the globe.  A passion for, and a broad knowledge of, investment products, capital markets, and competitor trends in the asset management industry are essential.

Reporting to the Head of Content Marketing, this individual will have the product, markets, client, and competitor knowledge to drive the development and execution of persuasive content. This involves translating complex product information from key internal stakeholders into easy-to-understand and client-focused communications, which resonate with both the institutional and intermediary client segments. The candidate’s client-focused approach must include a “digital first” mentality, seeking to generate content for a variety of digital platforms. Being able to balance feedback from different internal teams while maintaining clear and concise messaging is crucial.

The Product Marketing Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop, write and communicate product positioning and core messaging that differentiates our firm's strategies.
  • Craft and refine product content for both digital and print formats, such as marketing flyers, FAQs, brochures, blogs, videos, podcasts, and promotional product presentations.
  • Communicate the value proposition and strengths of the products to the sales teams, provide insight on current collateral/messaging and use-case scenarios, as well as develop/refine tools that support the selling process by continually soliciting feedback from business partners.
  • Integrate messaging and ensure its consistency across all marketing media through routine quality control processes.

Experience and Personal Characteristics

Flexibility and teamwork are essential in this rapidly expanding and highly visible marketing function. The successful candidate must know how to successfully position our investment capabilities versus competitors and within the current market environment. They will have the aptitude to develop accurate and influential messaging that is appropriate for various audiences and execute that positioning across multiple touchpoints. They must also have the ability to build credibility and trust with peers and executives.

Additional experience and attributes include:

  • Exceptional professional writing and research skills with ability to write/adapt content for multiple audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products, financial markets and the economy.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with attention to detail.
  • Proven knowledge of investment theories within multiple investment disciplines.
  • Understanding of and experience in crafting content and messaging for multiple distribution channels such as intermediary, institutional and international.
  • Ability to apply competitive intelligence to successfully position products.
  • Intellectual curiosity, agility, and durability with a high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proven project management skills; experience with collaborating with internal creative services teams; strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent teamwork and people (client management) skills
  • 7+ years’ experience in creating investment-related content, preferably with an asset management firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficient with technology, data, and tools, including Microsoft Office applications
