Job Summary

This position requires a strong understanding and desire to focus on fundamental credit analysis using internally generated analyses, external sources, and other analytical tools and processes. Position requires working closely as part of a team in a very dynamic work environment.  Reporting to the Head of Credit Research, this individual will be a member of our Credit Committee. The position requires the analysis of assigned issuers, potentially including banks, broker/dealers, corporates, municipals, and asset backed structures. The review process requires complete fundamental and risk management reviews. The successful candidate will have an established record in credit analysis and be proficient in conducting research and drafting issuer and sector wide analysis, with strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary function of the Senior Credit Analyst will be fundamental credit analysis of approved and proposed names through thesis development, identification of risk factors, sector research, assessing 3rd party perspectives, establishing due diligence requirements and presenting recommendations.
  • Act as primary or secondary analyst on issuers on approved lists.
  • Continual cycle surveillance using pre-established markers and recommendation of new markers and analytical tools.
  • Ongoing surveillance of financial metrics, market signals and other factors using Excel and other internally developed risk management models.
  • Interaction with the portfolio managers and credit team to determine appropriate candidates for inclusion in lists, hold codes, and investment policies.
  • Assist the Head of Credit Research to develop a training and mentoring program for new analysts.
  • Attend industry conferences as directed by the Head of Credit Research.
  • Client presentations as needed.
  • Assist with development and enhancement of Credit Policies and Procedures for compliance, analysis and employee conduct.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, as requested.

 

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting required
  • Master’s degree or CFA designation or other specialized education, preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in credit analysis
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data, time management skills

 

Competencies Required

Computer Skills:

  • MS Office skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with S&P Capital IQ and Bloomberg

Soft Skills:

  • Strong teamwork skills
  • High degree of initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required: Incumbent will demonstrate the ability to concisely distill an issuer’s story, highlighting meaningful factors of cash generation and deployment, and communicate the strengths, weaknesses and areas of due diligence for an issuer
  • Keen sense of macroeconomic and sector trends and the ability to convey their impacts on the credit issuers and portfolio holdings
  • Strong presentation skills to diversified audiences required
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Employee will be able to think quickly on their feet and defend their analysis
  • Employee will be able to exercise independent judgment and work well with all levels of employees

 

Compensation

$100,000 - $135,000
Bonus eligible
