About this role

Team Overview:

The Taiwan Core Portfolio Management team has responsibility for managing Blackrock's Taiwan on-shore portfolios, covering a wide variety of mandate types including model-based and fundamental funds. The team liaises closely with many areas of Investment Teams, including but not limited to Fundamental Fixed Income (FI) and Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS), and is responsible for ensuring these portfolios are managed effectively and in a consistent and risk-controlled manner.

Role Overview:

We are looking to hire a Taiwan Core Portfolio Manager to join our expanding Taiwan Asset Management Division. Based in Taipei, the Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing Fixed Income and Multi Asset portfolios helping drive our efforts to develop on-shore investment business in Taiwan. The Portfolio Manager will also help to manage fixed-income/balanced discretionary investment accounts (DIA).

The PM will be part of the global Core PM platform and will be expected the engage in products and research to support the wider platform and drive the evolution of the investment process in Taiwan. The successful candidate is expected to serve as an ambassador for the Portfolio Managers/Product Strategists of FI and MASS teams and clearly identify and communicate these team's investment theses to both internal and external stakeholders.

The individual will work in partnership with portfolio managers, sales, product specialists and other key stakeholders to promote and support on-shore products. This will include presenting to prospective clients, working on slides, marketing materials, regulator-required reports, and client queries. The successful candidate will possess a deep knowledge of fixed income, the cross-border fund marketplace, investment management and global economics.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage BlackRoc Taiwan on-shore fixed Income/balanced funds/portfolios.
  • Conduct 4-step investment process reports and any other administer affairs in complying with external regulations, rules, and internal instructions.
  • Drive the evolution of the investment process in Taiwan leveraging best practices and toolset of wider Global Core PM platform
  • Write up reports for securities in on-shore funds/portfolios on a quarterly basis to fulfil Taiwan regulatory requirement.
  • Analyze and report market status the Taiwan macro economy and mutual fund industry.
  • Participate in Taiwan/Singapore weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings to share investment viewpoints with peers.
  • Incorporation with Global Product Group (GPG) to develop and launch portfolios that focus on the Taiwan on-shore market.
  • Share investment ideas to global/APAC investment professionals.
  • Provide macro-economic views and insights as well as opinions on the outlook for Taiwan and Asian fixed income markets with partnership with relevant investment teams.
  • Build partnership and strong working relationship with the analysts and portfolio managers in FI and MASS teams globally.
  • Be an ambassador for the APAC FI and MASS teams and serves as these team's representative in Taipei.
  • Evaluate performance attribution and communicate portfolio performance.
  • Be a back-up for other Taiwan on-shore fund/portfolio managers.
  • Satisfy ad hoc requests for information and analysis.


Qualifications:
  • Preferably >3 years' experience (Associate)/ >6 years' experience (VP) in fixed income and multi-asset research or investment.
  • License of Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Professional required (Taiwan Securities Investment Analyst License is preferred)
  • Qualified for registering at least two Taiwan on-shore funds simultaneously accredited by SITCA
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, CFA or MBA a plus.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English essential.
  • Ability to speak/read/write Mandarin is essential; native fluency preferred.
  • Good Client facing experience. Excellent presentation skills and ability to deliver pertinent facts in a concise way.
  • Strong understanding of the asset management industry and capital markets, particularly multi-asset, and fixed income.
  • Proven financial services experience, preferably within a product specialist / portfolio management role; Institutional experience desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of global economics and markets and an interest in current affairs and events.
  • Understanding of performance attribution, market factors and driver of returns across mutual funds and asset classes.
  • Proficient in programming language (VBA / MATLAB / Python) is preferable.
  • Understanding of mathematical programming including but not limiting to linear programming, mixed integer programming is preferable.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, Bloomberg, etc.
