Position Description:

PIMCO is seeking a Strategist to join its Client Solutions & Analytics group in Newport Beach, CA. The Client Solutions & Analytics group started in 2009 as one of the industry's first "Solutions" teams. The group partners with a diverse range of clients across all geographies and channels, with the aim of leveraging PIMCO's intellectual capital and resources to help our clients make better investment decisions. The group seeks to generate actionable investment insights for clients by combining a deep understanding of their objectives with an analysis of potential market opportunities and risks.

Solutions Strategists take the lead role in analyzing the drivers of risk and return in client portfolios and suggesting ways to optimize these portfolios for the road ahead. They become trusted advisors to PIMCO's clients by delivering expertise in asset allocation, risk management, and investment strategies across all asset classes. Strategists frequently present their work directly to clients, consultants, and investment boards, which include some of the largest and most sophisticated investment institutions globally. Hence, they must combine outstanding analytical skills and investment acumen with strong communication skills and empathy. In addition, Strategists develop new investment content and contribute to PIMCO's thought leadership.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years professional investment work experience, preference for 3+ years of relevant work experience in the asset management industry, with portfolio construction and analysis experience preferred
  • MBA degree with an emphasis in Finance and Economics or a related, quantitative/analytical field from an accredited, leading business school or university, or other equivalent Advanced Degree preferred
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter with results orientation and desire to make contributions to the growth of the Firm
  • Well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently under tight deadlines; highly detail oriented
  • Ability to articulate ideas/strategies clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Aptitude for public speaking in both formal and informal settings, in front of a variety of audience types and sizes
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel
  • Strong investment knowledge base across all asset classes, especially fixed income
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation desired
