PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:  Provide CIO with senior level support of key client relationships.  As the investment team members expand their roles and take a broader view of asset classes, this senior role will add to the intellectual rigor, thought-leadership and capacity of the investment function.

OUTCOMES:

  1. Tailors and manages complex investment strategies and portfolios to meet the individual needs and financial goals of a diverse and sophisticated array of clients.  Focused on sourcing new investment strategies across asset classes and tailored for broad client access and/or larger and more complex client audiences.  Assist CIO in design and monitoring of the due diligence process for new and existing investment vehicles.
  2. Acts as lead adviser for many of FCI’s largest and most complex clients.  Advises clients on a number of complex wealth management issues, including investment policy development, portfolio construction and asset allocation, risk management and support with estate and tax planning.
  3. Team player who elevates the discussion and performance of the investment team and platform.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Play a key role in the investment research and client service efforts for a variety of clients including individuals, trusts, corporate and foundations as well as pension funds.
  2. Conceptualize and articulate complex financial and investment information that is tailored to client goals and values.
  3. Provide continual evaluation of the recommendations and performance of the investment platform including the model portfolios and underlying asset classes.
  4. Responsible for security analysis of select individual stock positions held in client portfolios.  Serve in key role in due diligence and coverage of outside investment managers across multiple asset classes including global equity, fixed income, private equity and alternative funds.
  5. Works on all investment matters acting as a thought leader to develop and implement appropriate investment policies and strategies; collaborates with CIO and senior leaders to set strategic direction.
  6. Performs investment research, keeping informed of developments in the investment management industry.  This position includes sourcing of new investment managers, in addition to partnering with existing outside consultants.
  7. Analyzes, constructs and manages client portfolios, client presentation materials and other client deliverables.  Ensures a high level of accuracy and timely completion.
  8. Works collaboratively with other team members to provide sophisticated qualitative and quantitative support in the client management process. 
  9. Works with the family’s team of FCI advisors, including Investments, Financial Consultants, Trust and Estate Planning, and Tax, to determine potential consequences of investment decisions and their relationship to overall cash flow management, estate and tax planning.
  10. Maintains a recommended list of investments through thorough due diligence of available managers and strategies.
  11. Participates in projects as assigned by the Chief Investment Officer to accomplish department or company goals.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Advanced knowledge of investment concepts, including modern portfolio theory and the ability to apply those concepts in an ever-changing and increasingly complex financial environment.
  2. Strong quantitative abilities and knowledge of appropriate tools.
  3. Minimum 10 years related experience (client relationships, investment manager research and selection, asset allocation).
  4. CFA certification preferred.
  5. A positive track record of investment returns in excess of appropriate benchmarks.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Sitting, talking at a moderate volume level, hearing, fingering/grasping constantly
  2. Standing, walking, reaching frequently
  3. Bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching as necessary to facilitate filing
  4. Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally
  5. Operating audio visual devices and standard office equipment, such as computers, telephones, fax machines, and photocopiers
  6. Looking at computer screen regularly
  7. Organizing and sorting correspondence and other documents
  8. Typing and entering data on a computer at a speed necessary for successful job performance
  9. Quiet, professional, results-oriented office environment
