Our client is a London-headquartered, sub-Saharan Africa-focused boutique advisory and placement firm. They predominantly undertake buy-side, sell-side and capital raising for African investment opportunities, with a transaction target size of $50-150m. The team is made up of industry professionals who understand the key regional markets and have backgrounds in private equity, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory and portfolio management. Our clients seeks an Associate, or possibly a Senior Analyst to join the London-based advisory deal team to support in deal execution across a variety of transactions.
Responsibilities
The candidate will play a crucial role throughout deal cycles - with exposure to a variety of sectors, geographies, capital structures, process types, and transaction sizes.
The candidate will report to a Vice President, and be required to support as follows:
Deal Review of potential mandates, including desktop and physical due-diligence
Drafting of proposal documents to support business development efforts
Preparation & evaluation of financial models, forecasts and valuation documents Stress-testing of financial models' integrity
Transaction management - Drafting of marketing documents (e.g. teasers and investment memoranda) as well as supporting investor due-diligence (e.g. managing Q&As, facilitating site-visits)
Internal process management - Keeping CRM and process management databases up-to-date throughout transaction lifecycle. Also - housekeeping and compliance support tasks.
Client-facing work includes attending in calls and presentations and crucially investor relationship management and intelligence capture.
There is travel potential to Africa.
Candidate Experience Profile
Necessary i) Literacy in finance principles, and MS Office suite (particular strengths in Excel and PowerPoint)
ii) Minimum 4 years of process-driven finance experience or over 2 years M&A deal execution FULL TIME experience
iii) Demonstrable keen interest in African investment landscape
Optional a) Chartered Accountant or CFA charterholder
b) French, Portuguese, or vernacular language skills
c) Experience of travelling in sub-Saharan Africa countries
