Junior Investment Analyst (Buy-side)

We are an investment advisor with approximately $5  billion in assets under advisement. We specialize in long-only public equities for institutions and high net worth families. We have an opening for a Junior Investment Analyst in our Los Angeles office. This position requires 2-4 years of experience with specialization in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields.

Job Description:

You will be conducting fundamental securities analysis research as an integral part of the Small Cap US Equities team. You will be supporting in all aspects of the research process, including idea sourcing, due diligence, participation in management calls, financial modeling, investment presentations and portfolio monitoring.

This experience will be an excellent training ground for a junior associate to prepare for a future MBA candidacy. You will be working as a generalist with opportunity for exposure to multiple industries and economic sectors. The work environment is expected to be hybrid with time split between work from home and office, as well as some limited travel.

Primary responsibilities:

o    Perform stock, sector, and industry analyses

o    Analyze and understand business models

o    Perform five forces competitive analysis

o    Build/update financial models using Excel/Factset

o    Attend investment meetings with senior management team

o    Attend investor conferences

Preferred Qualifications - Education

o    Four year degree.

o    Specialization in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field is desired.

o    2-4 years of relevant experience

o    CFA or CPA candidacy is desired

Preferred Qualifications - Technical

o    Proven accounting skills

o    Aptitude and interest in reading company's financial filings such as 10Q and 10K reports

o    Basic knowledge of modeling with ability to understand and update financial models

o    Above all else, we want to see demonstrated interest in stock picking and passion for the investment field

Preferred Qualifications - Personal

o    Ability to multitask and reprioritize a must

o    Ability to assimilate large amounts of information quickly

o    High level of intellectual honesty, humility and critical thinking capabilities

o    Track record of perseverance

o    An ability to clearly and concisely articulate investment ideas verbally and in written reports
