Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth fundamental municipal credit analysis to assess credit quality and to make investment recommendations for tax-exempt and taxable municipal bond portfolios with a focus on issuers in the health care and long-term care sectors across the credit spectrum
- Develop and communicate independent credit opinion - rating and credit trend - on issuers under coverage
- Make security and sector positioning recommendations based on fundamental credit and relative value analysis
- Prepare and present industry and credit views to the relevant investment sector teams as appropriate
- Participate in and present at municipal credit and sector tactical meetings with portfolio managers, traders and other analysts
- Monitor developments that affect the municipal market (legislation, rating agency views, court cases)
- Perform other related duties as needed
Qualifications
- 7+ years' experience doing relevant work in an investment management firm or related experience.
- Bachelor degree in business, finance, economics or related field, with a solid foundation in finance and accounting; Master's degree in business, finance, economics, public policy or related field preferred
- CFA or progress towards CFA designation, a plus
- Strong and verbal communications skills - can synthesize and distill significant analysis and financial information into an investment conclusion communicated clearly and concisely, with strong conviction
- Understand of now macroeconomic and policy factors affect investment opportunities preferred
- Solid technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative, performance-driven work environment
