Job Description:

The Collateral Trading Optimization (CTO) Business Finance & Controls (BF&C) team is part of GBAM Finance and is responsible for coverage of the Collateral Trading Optimization business. The CTO desk is a desk within the Counterparty Portfolio Management (CPM) line of business. The CTO desk's mandate is to manage the funding and capital costs associated with GBAM's derivative portfolio across all legal entities and business units.

The Finance team supports the desk in a Business Finance Officer (BFO) capacity, ensuring proper reporting of the balance sheet and financial results. Core responsibilities will include: helping with daily, weekly and monthly risk and P&L reporting, explains & commentary, quarterly accounting disclosures, daily and monthly P&L and account reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, coordinating with corporate audit (internal & external, SOX), month-end close and supervisory reviews.

As part of the responsibilities of the role, the candidate will also develop business partner relationships with the Front Office, various businesses, controller groups and other support partners. Throughout the tenure of the role, the candidate should gain exposure and acumen in collateral, the systems used for collateral, FTP and several other areas of the organization. The candidate will develop and/ or improve the following skills: Business Partnering, Management Reporting, Control and Governance focus, Process Improvement and Capital Management.

This is a well-rounded role in which candidates have the opportunity to partner with the CTO desk (Front Office), risk and other senior finance managers. Candidate will gain exposure with how to deconstruct balance sheet and P&L in providing analytical support to the desk and other business partners.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor Degree (Accounting/ Finance preferred)

  • Minimum of 2-5+ years financial industry/ banking experience (preferred product control experience with derivative products)

  • Strong financial analytics experience (product control/financial analysis)

  • Advanced experience/skills with Excel and complex spreadsheets

  • Candidate must be able to work both independently and as team member

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines


Desired Skills

  • MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced certification

  • Advanced Excel Skills

  • Experience with: Oracle/SAP/Tableau/Alteryx/Microsoft Suite

  • Control focused, analytical, team oriented, comfortable with complex products and spreadsheets
