Position Description:
Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Senior Data Engineer for its Austin, TX location. Job ID 31303
Duties: Evaluate and execute proof of concepts for data engineering tools that would enable other engineers to scale their jobs efficiently and safely. Build data pipelines in Snowflake database using Amazon Web services and orchestrate them with Apache Airflow, allowing for millions of data points to flow seamlessly per day. Troubleshoot issues in complex data pipelines that arise on a day-to-day basis by identifying the issue/root cause, estimating the complexity, applying corrections and devising long-term solutions to ensure full remediation. Develop re-usable frameworks using Python to enable other developers and business users to leverage frameworks and thus achieving scale through reusability. Leverage Snowflake as cloud data platform and migrate the existing data pipelines to cloud while improve the overall efficiency. Provision and manage server infrastructure for maintaining and processing PIMCO's master reference data while ensuring high availability.
Position Requirements:
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in the position offered or related position. Full term of experience must include: Using Python to automate routine works for efficiency and build custom Airflow operators/hooks to enable complex transformation and pipelines. Using Terraform to provision the required infrastructure such as Kubernetes cluster, Amazon S3 buckets and Amazon EC2 instances. Using Snowflake Database to migrate the existing tables from Oracle to Snowflake in order ensure speedy data processing. Using Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provision infrastructure in cloud using Amazon EKS and Elastic Cloud Compute and to build applications using AWS lambda. Using Linux to spin up new servers, configure scripts and deploy applications. Using SQL/Oracle to create complex transformations and create views in Oracle database. Using Fivetran and HVR to integrate and ingest heterogonous datasets to snowflake.
