The Firm & Institutional Team
Dimensional Fund Advisors (‘Dimensional’) is a global investment firm with 40 years of experience in delivering systematic investment solutions. Operating from 13 offices globally, we currently manage A$879bn (as of 30 June 2021) across all listed asset classes. Dimensional has extensive experience working with institutional clients, currently managing over 100 separate accounts for institutions such as sovereign wealth and superannuation funds across the globe. Our rigorous approach to research and high-quality implementation form the basis of our investment approach.
Dimensional’s commitment to Australian institutional clients goes back 26 years. Its Sydney based investment team, which includes research, portfolio management and trading, is responsible for managing close to A$40 billion in assets (as of 31 December 2020) for Australian institutional and retail clients. The portfolios managed by this team encompass all listed asset classes (equities, fixed income, and REITs) across domestic and global markets with tracking error objectives ranging from passive/passive enhanced to highly active. Importantly, the Sydney-based investment team is part of a larger global team carrying out a globally consistent investment process with a strong focus on implementation.
The Institutional team is a blend of client service and business development professionals working closely together to build strong relationships at all levels across the institutional market. The Institutional team utilises a detailed level of Dimensional-specific investment and servicing expertise to connect with superannuation funds, government and sovereign wealth funds, insurance funds, family offices, charities, endowments and asset consultants.
The Opportunity
As a Regional Director (RD) in the Melbourne office you will focus on developing and expanding the institutional client base over time. To be successful in the role you will build strong relationships at all levels of an external stakeholder’s organisation to understand their needs and be able to identify opportunities. The RD will collaborate with the business development and client service teams as well as senior staff across the firm globally and locally to solidify future and existing relationships. You need to develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of Dimensional’s investment strategies and investment philosophy, and over time, will intuitively articulate this to the market place.
Over time, the RD will gradually build an expert level of Dimensional-specific investment knowledge to then systematically lead and present at meetings, whilst being able to answer a broad range of high-level queries on Dimensional’s investment capabilities, including the ability to differentiate Dimensional relative to competitors. The RD will learn to connect client needs with Dimensional’s investment capabilities.
The RD will also form a close internal link with Dimensional’s global investment teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of existing and new research and content, before distributing it to local audiences. The RD will stay current with industry trends, white papers and academic papers that can be used to help service the needs of clients and consultants.
