Position Description:

Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Senior Developer for its Newport Beach, CA location.

Duties: Design, develop and maintain data warehouse, data model schemas and programming objects like packages, procedures, functions, classes, modules, shell scripts. Work with end users to gather and analyze business, functional requirements, and architect relational and dimensional data models. Perform architectural development design and maintain MicroStrategy business intelligence platform and reporting tools including Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint reporting service. Deliver optimal performance within agile and waterfall development environment. Undertake programming in SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Python and Shell Bash scripting, and perform extract transform and data loading (ETL) operations on data migration tools including Informatica and WhereScape. Support full software development life cycle (SDLC), providing technical support and optimizing application performance per SLA. Fulfill ad-hoc reporting requests and analysis for business users, including creating customized reports on SharePoint reporting services. Support backend processes by conducting performance tuning of coding artifacts by debugging, analyzing execution plan and refactoring as needed. Work closely with database administrators (DBAs) to diagnose and resolve issues related to the design and maintenance of infrastructure, hardware and software, including conducting capacity planning for data needs and working with DBA to define DR migration plans. Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot data issues, fix bugs, and implement solutions that meet technical and operational needs. Supervise the work of subordinate team members and provide directions and guidance on project objectives, key values, results, deliverables and professional skill set improvement. Conduct daily meetings to remain up-to-date on work status updates, potential roadblocks, deployment plan and other project-related tasks. Offer training on tools and products needed to fulfil project deliverables and review the development artifacts.

Position Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, and seven (7) years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in the position offered, or as software engineer or related position. Full term of required experience must include: utilizing data architecture and data modeling skills to design data warehouse in conceptual, logical and physical data models for relational and dimensional schemas; conducting platform engineering to architect, design and configure application development process and workflow models; implementing normalized and de-normalized modeling techniques on relational (OLTP) and dimensional (OLAP) data models, and developing data marts in star schema and snowflake schema; demonstrating understanding of RDBMS concepts and creation of database objects including tables, views, sequences, triggers, collections, procedures, functions, packages, classes, and modules, while optimizing performance and reusability; programming in SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Python and Shell scripting to perform data and application development and execution operations; utilizing ETL tools including Informatica and WhereScape to perform extract transform and data loading mechanism; analyzing explain plans, debugging processes, creating bitmap indexes, and refactoring code to improve performance of SQL queries, application functions, procedures, packages and other database objects; designing, developing, deploying and administering SSRS, Power BI, MicroStrategy, Crystal Reports, Business Objects Universes, Web Intelligence, Desktop Intelligence, and other reporting environment applications; writing complex formulas in SSRS and Crystal Reports using Visual Studio and Crystal Designer, static, dynamic and dynamic cascade parameters; and performing system integrations and automating operational and batch processing jobs in AutoSys.
