The Role: Associate Director, Index Management

The Level:12 (Internal Purposes)

The Location: New York, USA

The Team: The US/Canada Index Management team within the Global Index Management & Production Group manages a wide range of high-profile indices primarily built on US and Canadian equities.

The Impact: The Associate Director, Index Management will lead the team responsible for the managing of some of S&P DJI's most important indices. As a leader you will be responsible for all aspects of managing the team.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and oversee the maintenance and management of high-profile indices

  • Participate in, coordinate and manage global projects
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,800 to $230,200. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Responsibilities:
The team leader will be a subject matter expert and will oversee day-to-day index operations including but not limited to:
  • Oversee Index Production and daily maintenance undertaken by the team of Index Managers
  • Oversee index launches by assessing capacity to maintain additional indices within the Index Management team, and coordinating with key stakeholder groups, including Research & Design, Product Management and PMO
  • Take a lead role in index committees and methodology reviews to ensure indices are calculated in accordance with SPDJI standards
  • Ensure high standards of quality are met by performing control reviews and quality assurance testing of team processes, incident review and remediation, disaster recovery planning and create new processes and procedures to improve operational performance
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of real-time and end-of-day index data to clients and end users
  • Ensure compliance with S&P's policies and procedures
  • Coordination and communication between the three locations, Mexico City, Toronto and New York
Responsible for the development of individuals on your team, as well as overall team performance including:
  • Head count
  • Hiring of new analysts
  • Performance reviews and accountability
  • Assessing bandwidth and capabilities
  • Succession planning
  • Mentor team members and identify strength and weaknesses to maximize their contribution to the team
  • Training new and existing team members
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree. CFA or Advanced degree in business, math, economics, or finance strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience in index management or similar role
  • Understanding of global financial markets and deep knowledge of US/Canada equity markets and indices
  • Must be able to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate work done by multiple people and / or groups
  • Have strong managerial ability to lead a team to success
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner
  • Knowledge of vendor terminals and vendors data and analytical platforms
  • Superior computer skills in Excel, Word and related applications
