Fitch is looking for a Senior Analyst / Associate Director  to join the Asset Backed Securities (ABS) team.  The position will be responsible for a wide range of tasks and specific responsibilities will include: assuming a role in rating ABS transactions; assisting the development and refinement of cash flow models and tools used in the rating process and authoring market commentary and research.  The position covers the U.S. ABS market, with initial emphasis on student loan (FFELP and private), auto loan and auto lease, and equipment leasing sectors.  

 

Position Requirements 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
- Analyzing the critical credit, legal and structural elements of ABS transaction structures;
- Developing, testing and implementation of models and tools used in the rating process ;  
- Assisting in the development of ratings criteria, including writing relevant reports and developing recommendations to bolster analysis;
- Building automation tools to enhance workflow efficiency;  
- Leading and/or supporting research projects; and    
- Maintaining assigned rating relationships.

 

Qualifications:  
An ideal candidate will have a BA/BS degree with a minimum of between 3- and 5-years work experience with some structured finance understanding and strong quantitative and technical expertise. Exceptional communication (particularly in writing), organizational, and time-management skills are also a must. The candidate will be self-motivated and able to manage timelines across many disparate projects and showcase a willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts and techniques. Programming experience in Python, SQL and/or VBA is preferred.
