Position Description:

We are seeking a Project Manager - Alternative Operations, to join our global team of professionals located in Newport Beach, CA, Austin, TX, London, and New York, NY. Our team supports PIMCO’s Alternatives/Structured Products business, including complex hedge funds and private equity vehicles.

In this role, you will engage key partners, including Technology, Operations, Portfolio Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and external service providers, to drive projects of varying degrees of difficulty from beginning to end. Your primary focus will be managing projects ranging from external software integrations, reporting needs, in house development to process improvements, all requiring collaboration and multi-team participation. Examples of processes our broader team supports include:

  • Deal facilitation;
  • Settlement;
  • Income accounting and collection;
  • Cash wire controls;
  • Physical security registration;
  • Complex debt restructuring; and
  • Other operational functions


The role will allow you the opportunity to acquire operations knowledge across PIMCO’s entire alternative platform.

The role may be based in Austin, TX, or New York, NY.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Alternative Operations team on diverse projects and initiatives to scale and improve the alternatives infrastructure
  • Strategize, design, and manage our process improvements and technology initiatives, serving as the primary point of contact
  • Lead RFPs and assist with negotiations with vendors for external system implementations
  • Engage project stakeholders by scheduling meetings, creating presentations, distributing notes, and following up on action items
  • Set priorities, assist with scoping, hold stakeholders accountable, drive meeting agendas, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Survey the industry for best practices and leading technology solutions
  • Facilitate data cleanup efforts for investments and general infrastructure related systems on an ad hoc basis
  • Provide support on deal settlements in times of capacity constraints


Position Requirements:

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 6-10 years of project management experience supporting operations within the financial services industry
  • Experience leading sophisticated software integrations, including vendor selection involving multiple departments
  • Consistent record taking an idea, finding a solution, scoping the implementation, managing UAT testing, and finalizing rollout
  • Knowledge of market-leading financial operation’s technologies and their uses
  • Understanding of SQL and database query tools
  • Solid data mining skills and ability to transform large data sets
  • Solid understanding of Excel and PowerPoint, including macros/VBA

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at a private equity hedge fund, traditional hedge fund, or large multifaceted institution
  • Understanding of private equity legal entity structures
  • Understanding of loan based products, ideally term loans, revolvers, delayed draw, and private originated debt desirable
