Position Description:

Here at PIMCO we leverage the Kx Refinery to provide storage and analytics for real-time and historical tick data. We are looking for a senior q/kdb engineer to join our team who can design and direct the building of q/kdb systems for portfolio analytics, portfolio managers and other business and Technology teams on KxR, the PIMCO installation of Refinery. You will manage the day-to-day operation of KxR. You'll also support efforts to empower the growing number of KxR users across the firm. You will have the opportunity to eventually be promoted to manage the team.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and distill business requirements and define technical options, trade-offs and present to both technical and business audiences
  • Work with the team to ensure well-architected technical solutions for Portfolio Analytics and other internal clients
  • Work well as a team leader and collaborate closely with technology and business colleagues
  • Ensure that solutions follow q/kdb/Refinery best practices as well as PIMCO internal standards
  • Provide second level user support for business critical problems


Position Requirements:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related technical field
  • 5+ years of development experience, with deep knowledge of q/kdb
  • Good interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills an absolute must with a demonstrable ability to lead in a team environment
  • Self-motivated with strong aptitude for learning and business problem solving
  • Write idiomatic q/kdb and be familiar with latest versions
  • Knowledge of Kx Refinery a strong plus but not strict requirement
  • Financial Markets background preferred
  • Python experience is a strong plus
  • Java and/or C++ experience a plus
