Equities Business Manager - China Onshore

The APAC Equities business is building a franchise in China, establishing a new onshore presence together with BCMA and Research. The Business Unit Manager role is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within one's area. Commercial awareness is a necessity.
It would require work closely with the regional senior management team in Equities helping to drive the franchise footprint build out in China as well as manage the overall daily BAU activities of the business.

Responsibilities:

• This role will be based in Hong Kong initially with the potential relocation back to China in future
• Responsible for franchise strategy development and determining the best possible approach for strategy execution
• Drive out and project manage the China NewCo initiatives build out and provide support to China onshore/offshore senior business management during the whole lifecycle
• Assist the regional/country team to manage and execute the New Product Review process for any new initiatives including the China projects
• Deal with complex issues or problems with substantial potential impact, where weighing alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting needs is required for the development of possible action items or approach.
• Apply in-depth industrial and business knowledge for uncovering and seizing business opportunities.
• Develop and manage program related internal and external processes by sourcing, evaluating, winning, and closing new partner programs.
• Assist Equity Head or other relevant business heads in budgeting, planning, policy formulation and implementation (including IT).
• Business & Strategy Presentations for senior management
• Require excellent communication skills in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Critical external communication is typically required including hands on experience dealing with consultants/lawyers/auditors etc.
• Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions.
• Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas.
• Significant impact on a function and/or the business through making decisions that determine technical approaches and strategies for the area.
• Provide leadership and promote business ties with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions and support functions
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of relevant experience
• Holds both International and onshore china work experience is highly desirable
• Background in regulatory/audit/compliance/risk will be preferred
• Knowledge of the financial services industry and technology
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and processes
• Proven ability to work in high-pressure environments
• Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Proven strategic planning and presentation skills
• Proven ability to conduct research/analysis and organize findings
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) is highly desirable
• Fluent spoken and written English and native mandarin speaker is preferred

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, law, finance, economics, engineering or related disciplines, potentially Master's degree is preferred
