The Senior Fund Manager will take a lead role in the management of certain sub-advised proprietary equity funds, entailing oversight of both the Fund and its external asset managers.  In addition to oversight responsibilities, the Fund Manager assists the Managing Vice President, Equities, in developing and implementing fund/portfolio strategies. The Fund Manager is also integral in planning, managing projects and liaising with other groups and divisions of the Corporation and with external parties.

Essential Functions for this role include:

  • Management of sub-advised proprietary equity funds
    • Perform both qualitative and quantitative analysis on funds/ sub-advised portfolios
      • Perform due diligence on existing funds through meetings with senior executives of asset management firms
      • Manage the due diligence process of funds, asset managers’ adherence to investment guidelines and asset manager relationships
      • Support other Fund Managers through a team approach to provide continuity of daily management of other equity funds
      • Stay updated on the financial markets, the economy, equity securities in general and specific emphasis on major equity holdings of sub-advised funds
      • As needed, manage cash flows and/or the rebalancing of certain funds and portfolios.
      • Provide significant input on the hiring and termination process for asset managers
      • Develop relationships with and perform due diligence on back-up and prospective asset managers
      • Review, write, and as needed, present routine and ad hoc information of certain funds, portfolios and asset managers for different reporting needs. Examples include information for internal groups/divisions, committee meetings, board reports, fund prospectus, regulatory filings, clients and consultants
  • Assist MVP, Equities in developing and implementing fund/portfolio strategies
    • Conduct research to support and help determine optimal portfolio structure, asset managers and asset allocation.
    • Develop, establish, and implement appropriate investment policies, guidelines and procedures.
    • Implement Fund changes on an as-needed basis including working with asset managers, other external parties, and different groups within the Corporation
  • As assigned by the MVP, Equities, additional responsibilities may include:
    • Conduct due diligence and performance review of Trust Series Funds
    • Analysis or management of Corporation’s equity portfolios and related activities
    • Support marketing, sales or other communications efforts through research, analysis, written reports, “request for proposal” reviews/responses utilizing specific investment knowledge
    • Manage projects for internal groups such as Compliance, Finance/ pricing committee Internal Audit, and Legal.
    • Manage relationships with outside vendors
    • Take a lead role in special investment related studies and projects
    • Work closely with the MVP, Equities in developing analysts in the equity group

If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply:

  • 7-10 years' of experience; 7+ years’ of Investment experience, with an emphasis on portfolio analysis; investment and economic trends; broad knowledge of equity securities; and communication of investment-related information
  • CFA and/or CAIA Certification
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment across division lines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient with MS Excel (spreadsheet analysis), PowerPoint and Word
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, including meeting strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Project management skills
  • BA degree
