Investment Analyst

Organization: DF Enterprises is a single family office based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The office supports three households, a private trust company, various other trusts, investment partnerships, portfolio companies, operating entities, and two private foundations.

Position Overview: This position was designed for the incumbent to execute operational tasks and responsibilities across various family office entities and organizations. The candidate will assist with the research, analysis, sourcing, diligence, monitoring and operational processes of marketable investments across financial markets, legal structures, and asset classes, with a particular focus on external investment managers and producing investment performance reports. 

Desired Qualifications:

• Actively involved in CFA program; ideally having passed level I
• Certificate in Investment Performance Management (CIPM) via CFA Institute
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; and particularly robust skill in Excel
• 3-4 years of professional experience; family office experience desirable, but not required
• Firm grasp of asset allocation, performance measurement, cash management, corporate finance, and portfolio theory (as developed thru experience or coursework)
• Passion for investment markets and solid knowledge of basic investment structures across the investable landscape (equities, bonds, cash and alternatives)
• Experience with Portfolio Management Software Packages, Institutional Asset Custody Platforms, Research Services (Bloomberg) and various Private Banking Platforms

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide analytical support for portfolio management function; including asset allocation, strategy implementation, performance measurement, tax management, and risk mitigation
• Assist in the development of investment presentations, manager research reports, asset allocation studies, manager due diligence, economic and market reviews
• Provide fundamental and qualitative analysis on current and potential investments, managers and accounts in equity, fixed income, hedge funds and cash markets 
• Source, diligence, monitor and evaluate external investment managers and cohere with key stakeholders on investment guidelines, performance assessments and tax planning
• Facilitate the establishment of investment accounts, contracts, custody agreements, investment management agreements, research, accounting & performance systems
• Prepare periodic external manager fee audits and benchmark suitability analysis
• Lead/own the investment performance reporting process utilizing disparate source data, research platforms and reporting systems to produce quarterly performance packages
• Monitor external manager portfolios and provide periodic updates to internal investment staff on changes in strategy, underlying portfolios and significant performance divergences vs indices and peers
• Assist in the RFP/Vendor selection and implementation processes
• Manage the cash management process across stakeholders and partnership accounts to make timely and accurate capital calls and bank wires to private investment funds, direct investments, and partner distributions
• Assist in partnership accounting process on commingled investment partnerships
• Execute capital calls and monitor cash flows of private investment funds
• Perform all other duties as assigned
