Position Description:

Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Vice President, Portfolio Manager for its Newport Beach, CA location. Job ID 30551

Duties: Manage residential mortgage loans in multi-sector investment portfolios/flagship funds. Direct and execute residential whole loan trading transactions (including re-performing loans, non-qualified mortgage loans, fix and flip loans and other bridge assets) with broker dealers, investment bank trading desks and other buy-side financial institutions including private equity firms, hedge funds, and real estate investment trusts (REITs). Issue residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS) in the primary capital market and buy and/or sell residential mortgage credits in the secondary capital market. Actively and regularly monitor mortgage whole loan and structured credit portfolios performance and review monthly cash flow remittance and undertake distressed loan workout arrangement. Strategize and implement optimal residential mortgage portfolio return by sourcing financing leverage through securitization or repurchase (repo) agreements with credit lenders such as investment banks. Work with rating agencies and banking underwriters on securitized deals, and actively market the issued bonds to qualified institutional investors and other market makers in the capital markets. Coordinate and review daily mark-to-market loan valuation assessment with a third valuation counterparty. Manage counterparty approval, vendor negotiation and contracting. Engage vendors on pre-trade settlement due diligence review processes, including credit, compliance, title, lien, property valuation, collateral, loan modification, pay history, data integrity, servicing comments review. Liaise with various internal parties on post-trade settlement and other portfolio managers on asset allocations. Support client platform by working with account managers to update clients on market conditions, investment philosophy, asset allocation process and portfolio performance. Work closely with product strategy managers to address clients revolving investment needs in changing market cycles. Contribute to broader PIMCO investment process by providing input on relevant market conditions, independent analysis, and market research.

Position Requirements:

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or related field and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in position offered or related position. At least three (3) years of experience must include: utilizing knowledge of non-agency mortgage credit products and deep understanding of each products collateral characteristics and performance tendency; utilizing knowledge of repurchase agreement (repo) financing terms and mechanisms; managing margin calls and performing liquidity analysis by assessing and reviewing the prices of the respective mortgage assets; engaging in term securitization process with capital structure and pricing knowledge; working with rating agency approved third party review (TPR) vendors on securitization standard diligence reviews for bond issuance and experience in reliance letters, 17g5 and SEC filings; undertaking collateral management and working with custodians to ensure that all collaterals are on hand and that there is no material collateral exception regarding the underlying mortgage collaterals, and working with attorneys to make appropriate disclosures on any material collateral exceptions during the securitization process; conducting asset level credit due diligence and underwriting review, as well as legal and operational due diligence to ensure all investments are compliant with state and federal laws and company guidelines. At least two (2) years of experience must include: utilizing Excel to generate collateral stratification reports on various types of mortgage products to reflect the distinctive metrics and risks associated with each product; and to perform customized reporting including building asset borrowing base, return analysis, monthly performance review, P&L review and forecast, margin calculations, etc.; utilizing Intex to gather information on various mortgage credit products, and to perform bond structuring and pricing; and utilizing SQL to manage and retrieve data from big datasets to perform various tasks including HPI index update, P&L calculations and to calibrate performance of various mortgage credit products.
