As the organization continues to grow, they are currently seeking a Director – Public Markets to join their team in St. John’s, NL.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Director-Public Markets will play a critical role in oversight, compliance, and risk management of the externally-managed public market investment strategy, including investments in public equities, fixed income, hedge funds and overlay mandates. The Director-Public Markets will research and recommend active management strategies, with the goal of adding value above policy benchmark and will contribute to the team’s effort to develop a holistic investment approach. The Director will lead the search process for external managers across various asset classes within public markets and will manage, mentor, and develop staff to build the investment talent of the organization. Tasked with building strong relationships with internal and external partners as well as monitoring market and investment industry trends, the Director-Public Markets will increase operating efficiencies and look for ways to apply process improvements.

A leader with 10+ years experience in an investment setting at a pension fund, asset management firm, or investment management function, combined with an undergraduate degree in Finance, or equivalent, and a professional designation such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or other related professional designations and education, is essential for success in this role. Your experience applying portfolio construction principles has led to your success in assembling a portfolio of external managers aligned to achieve specific investment objectives. Naturally inquisitive, you are motivated to constantly evaluate new ideas that help drive portfolio innovation over time and you thrive when working with a considerable amount of independence and autonomy. You have sound knowledge of accounting principles and software applications as they relate to investment and risk management functions and you have a knack for communicating complex information in a simple, relevant, unbiased, and direct manner.
