The role as EM Analyst will specifically help the trading desk to position risk and drive trade ideas. The trade recommendations will range from top-down market views, country specific views to relative value trade idea generation. The role will require detailed focus on a broad array of Emerging Market sovereign, quasi sovereign and corporate debt. This role is fast-paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. The ideal candidate should have a combination of strong technical skills as well as commercial acumen. The successful candidate will enjoy contributing to a highly collaborative investment environment and will actively embrace the prospect of overlapping lines of idea generation. The ability to provide a point of view within an open investment dialogue whilst appreciating challenges remains of high value. Additionally, the successful individual must also have a global perspective and creative approach for thinking about innovation, and the evolution of investing and trading.

What you will do
  • Monitor markets and inform trading desks about the potential impact of the news-flow, geopolitical developments and broader market trends on multiple trading strategies
  • Build proper country specific monitors for key risk factors for EM Countries
  • Generate, formulate and test new trading ideas and improve existing trading strategies through a combination of thorough macro, micro, fundamental and quantitative analysis
  • Produce both periodic and ad-hoc analyses on special-events, investment themes, trade ideas and markets trends

What you will need to succeed
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance or similar
  • 2-5 years' experience in a EM analyst / strategist or related role
  • Experience in a research discipline, with a proven ability to make investment decisions that are supported by rigorous analysis, often with incomplete information, and communicated with strong conviction
  • Well-developed professional knowledge of Emerging Markets (ideally across Sovereigns, Corporates, Financials and Quasi-Sovereigns) and broader global fixed income markets
  • Advanced aptitude for both fundamental and relative value analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • Affinity with statistics and experience with applying quantitative methods
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong quantitative orientation & mindset, including econometrics, and understanding of fixed income concepts; proven aptitude to gather and analyze large datasets and develop complex financial models
  • Keen interest in financial markets, investments and trading
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic environment and markets
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive to constantly improve our market coverage
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
  • CFA charter holder or candidate
