Desjardins Capital Markets is currently seeking a Research Associate in the Oil & Gas sector for its Equity Research team in Calgary.

You have an opportunity to work with an equity analyst on the publication of company and industry research reports and comments. Also, you have the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of the Oil & Gas sector and the institutional equity business.

Additional information

• Develop an expertise in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Assist in the development of comprehensive company/industry specific financial and operational models.
• Help maintain and develop sector specific databases.
• Compile and evaluate industry information and research.
• Assist in generating company and industry research reports and comments.
• Provide analytical, quantitative and administrative support to the analyst as required.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects, presentations and assignments as needed.
• Liaise with sales, trading and other areas of the firm.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key personnel from companies under coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• A minimum of six years of relevant experience
• Undergraduate/graduate degree in business preferred and/or CFA, CPA or MBA (an asset)
• Experience in analyzing financial statements and creating financial models in Excel
• Experience in the Oil & Gas sector (an asset)
• Previous research experience (an asset)
• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
• For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required.

Specific knowledge

• Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Bloomberg in addition to sourcing data from the internet, Knowledge of VBA or programming (an asset)
