We are looking for a Senior Manager to join our Vancouver-based Investment Resource Group (IRG). It is a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment. Your role will be to ensure that the appropriate operational infrastructure is in place to support multiple Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group (“CC&L”) Affiliates in their efforts to deliver unparalleled service and support to our clients.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader and problem-solver who has the ability to identify process improvements, can analyze data, and can contribute to the strategic direction of the group.
Financial Knowledge: Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics. Completion of the CA designation, CFA Program, or MBA, considered asset. Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Excel. Developed knowledge of investment accounts (RRSP, TFSA, RRIF, etc.).
Experience in Leading Teams: One or both of the following: (1) management experience including coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, recruiting, training, policy-making and process design or (2) a minimum of five years’ experience in a back-office or administrative environment in the financial services industry with a record of progressively increased responsibility.
Strategic Thinking: Experience in setting a strategic direction for an operational team.
Problem Solving/Analytical Mind: Proven ability to think logically and problem solve effectively. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure; dealing with changes and interruptions while maintaining strict deadlines.
Curiosity for Learning: The desire to learn processes and improve on operational efficiencies.
Collaborative Communication: You have a collaborative spirit that helps you work well with others and you communicate effectively.
Building Relationships: You have a proven record of accomplishments of building strong working relationships with various stakeholders.
Excellent writing, listening and presentation skills: A proven ability to disseminate information effectively to other employees at all levels of the organization
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail including sorting, filtering, and handling vast amounts of data.
What You Will Do
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Retail Portfolio Operations Team, currently comprised of 2 Managers and 15 Staff, including the following functions:
- Reconciliation of our portfolio accounting records with the custodian’s
- Responding to client audit requests
- Private Capital monthly, quarterly, annual reporting and tax reporting
- Private Capital fee calculation
- Pooled fund trade execution and trade support
- Monitoring and trading on our separately managed accounts program
- Data management and sales reporting
Manage and structure an appropriate team of support professionals, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Analyze current processes and procedures, redesign workflow to increase efficiency, mitigate risk, and increase the level of service provided to key stakeholders.
Ensure policies and procedures are documented, reviewed and kept current.
Develop, test, and implement new procedures and systems to accommodate changing business demands.
Liaise with various teams across all the Affiliates in the CC&L Financial Group to ensure their current and upcoming requirements are being met by the IRG.
Lead projects that impact the Retail Portfolio Operations team.
Manage and support the relationships with key third party service providers (e.g. SS&C Technologies, CIBC Mellon, RBC IS, etc.).
Participate in IRG Senior Management team meetings, assisting in the development and implementation of the IRG’s strategic plan, and resolving general IRG management issues.
