Credit and Obligor Risk Analytics (CORA) is looking to add a Senior Analyst to the Credit Risk Rating Analytics (CRRA) Team. This individual contributor will join a team responsible for approvals of Risk Rating Processes for Classifiably Managed Portfolios, which account for over $900 billion in exposure. The team's responsibility includes writing the approvals of Risk Rating Processes (Methodologies) for Classifiably Managed (Wholesale) Portfolios. The Risk Rating Process is the end to end process for assigning Obligor Risk Ratings (ORRs), which are 1-year probability of default ratings and Expected Loss Rating at the facility level or Facility Risk Ratings (FRRs). The team is responsible for the life cycle development of all Citi's Wholesale 1-year probability of default models used to rate SMEs / MMEs and Large Corporates as well as Commercial Real Estate and Financial Institutions on a Global basis. Built on default and financial data specific to the geography or industry, these models provide a means of evaluating obligor credit risk on a consistent basis across all regions and many industries. At present, these Risk Rating Processes and models are used by approximately 3,000 Risk Managers and rate more than 50,000 obligors with $1 Trillion in exposure in the wholesale portfolio.

This highly visible role requires strong knowledge of corporate finance, credit risk and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Approval of Risk Rating Processes (credit rating methodologies) for the classifiably managed (wholesale) businesses across Citi's portfolios based on analytics of the underlying credit portfolio data, governing policies and standards.
  • Provide sound product, business and client descriptions and classifications/taxonomy to support advanced credit model development.
  • This position requires a strong ability to summarize the approval decision with supporting rationale in formal memos to senior management.
  • Participate in portfolio risk rating studies regarding the probability of default, source of obligor risk ratings, subsidiary analyses and benchmarking to external rating agencies as needed.
  • Evaluate "judgmental" risk ratings to determine if the underlying process is acceptable.
  • Participate in other team projects, including Probability of Default, Basel Parameter updates (e.g. PD, LGD, EAD), and policy issues.
  • Evaluate internal and external practices, including rating agency write-ups, Basel and local regulatory requirements, industry analysis, and internal research, to ensure Citi is using the "best practice" processes that adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare analyses and narratives related to ad-hoc special projects from Senior Risk Management.
  • Apply critical thinking in solving complex business problems with quantitative tools in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Actively engage with the CRRA Team and other members of CORA.

  • Advance Degree (Masters) in Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Math, Accounting, or an Applied Science. CFA or FRM is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Accounting and Corporate Finance is a significant plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a credit analyst and in writing Credit Approval Memos (CAs), Fundamental Credit Reviews, and Special Assets Management a plus.
  • Background in Credit Risk Modeling is a plus.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python programming along with a solid aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite of Products primarily Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal as well as written.
  • Experience working with a highly productive analytical team.
  • Ability to make decisions / balance aggressive timelines for deliverables amidst conflicting priorities.
