POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a high performing individual who thrives in a team environment. This role is a critical contributor to the success of the organization, driving valuable information and insights. Our ideal candidate is service-focused and will be responsible for our client’s portfolio management activities, such as performance review, asset allocation review, and trading. The Investment Analyst (Analyst) will serve as a business partner to members of the investment committee. Responsibilities in doing so: conduct market, economic and investment research, present well-prepared research and analysis on current investments, as well as proposed investment or allocation changes, and question or debate other committee members’ research and analysis to encourage comprehensive thinking.  

The Investment Analyst is the one of the primary in-office points of contact for Advisors. The ideal candidate will closely with Client Service Associates to ensure a high level of client support is delivered in a responsive manner with exemplary advice. The Analyst will partner with Advisors as a back-up for client accounts which may include direct client interaction via in-person meetings, email and telephone. Participation and facilitation of client meetings may be required. The Analyst will handle incoming Advisor or client due diligence requests and questions.  

The Analyst will build collaborative working relationships throughout the organization and inspire confidence from the investment team through:

At the request and direction of the CIO, the Analyst may meet with outside investment firm representatives and maintain strong working relationships with each of NorthRock’s investment partner firms.

WHAT YOU’LL DO ONCE HERE

  • Advise management of actions and potential risks
  • Work with team members from Operations and Client Service to ensure accurate and high-quality client deliverables
  • Perform trading activities in our client’s portfolios
  • Monitor and assist internal partners with critical client deliverables including:
  • Comprehensive investment policy review and development
  • Investment implementation/rebalancing
  • Manager evaluation
  • Performance reporting and evaluation
  • Asset allocation/asset liability work
  • Verbal and written communication to clients pertaining to fund information or other client requests
  • Projects or needs
  • Coordinate, design and create customized analysis and responses to ad-hoc client and team member inquiries
  • Learn and adapt to new software and technology
  • Actively engage in available training and education programs

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND MINDSET

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university: Business, Finance, Economics, or Investments/Actuarial/Mathematics
  • Hold a CFA and/or CAIA designation 
  • 5 years or more of experience in the financial services industry as a high-achiever with a reputation of a rockstar who gets things done (client service, consulting, portfolio management, financial planning) 
  • 3 years or more of experience performing due diligence on private investments, public investment funds and/or individual investment assets
  • Working knowledge and understanding of asset allocation for private clients
  • Record of success in improving processes and leading departmental growth
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage lateral and upwards
  • Proficiency across many of the following platforms: Morningstar, Black Diamond, Salesforce, or other investment research platforms (FactSet, Bloomberg)
  • Emotional maturity and professional mindset
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to make concise arguments with conviction
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office and Apple iOS mobile; must be very tech savvy
  • United States work authorization
