About Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG):

The Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) within BlackRock Solutions creates and delivers Aladdin's analytical capabilities to influence better portfolio decisions, differentiate products and solutions, and enable our clients to fulfill their financial goals. Our mission is grounded in our expertise of analytics, Aladdin (the firm's proprietary platform), and technology. PAG works across our investment teams and client businesses, in partnership with BlackRock's analytics, data and technology teams, to transform data into intelligence, deploy financial models on Aladdin, address client challenges with innovative technology, and deliver solutions across asset classes and client segments.

Responsibilities:
  • Analytics Content Stewardship
    • Shows a technical and intuitive understanding of Aladdin analytics methodologies
    • Shows an understanding of how stakeholder teams use Aladdin tools and analytics to improve investment decisions
    • Provide analytics to investment businesses to drive investment decisions
    • Develop subject matter expertise in asset classes, risk models and methodologies
    • Being updated with market and connect with stakeholder needs to influence analytics roadmap
    • Ensures analytics documentation is current and writes clear and concise release notes
    • Participates in client meetings alongside the Aladdin Business to provide model overviews and answer analytic inquiries
  • Deploying Analytics content to stakeholders
    • Resolves complex inquiries within area of focus
    • Understands and recommends how analytics can be applied across various investment styles
    • Understands production processes and liaises with partner teams to ensure smooth model deployments and maintenance
    • Coordinates UAT and deployment of analytics content & functionality
    • being updated with market and connect with stakeholder needs to influence analytics roadmap
    • Assists with model design and peer reviews
  • Thought Leadership
    • Demonstrate leadership in identifying key areas where our expertise in analytics and technology can be leveraged to create impact to the business
    • think actively and focus on direction of creating impact through analytics by leveraging existing platforms like Aladdin Insights etc
    • Liaise with invest teams and other stakeholders to develop efficient solutions stemming from expertise in analytics and technology
  • Analytic Content Stewardship

    • Shows an understanding of how stakeholder teams use Aladdin tools and analytics to inform improve investment decisions
    • Drives team and stakeholder education including through training materials and demos
    • Ensures analytics documentation is current and writes clear and concise release notes
    • Participates in client meetings alongside the Aladdin Business to provide model overviews and answer analytic inquiries
  • Analytics Content Stewardship
    • Shows a technical and intuitive understanding of Aladdin analytics methodologies
    • Shows an understanding of how stakeholder teams use Aladdin tools and analytics to improve investment decisions

    • Resolves complex inquiries within area of focus
    • Understands and recommends how analytics can be applied across various investment styles
    • Understands production processes and liaises with partner teams to ensure smooth model deployments and maintenance
    • Coordinates UAT and deployment of analytics content & functionality
    • Assists with model design and peer reviews
  • Drive Aladdin Integration
    • Understands where and how key data points are stored and supported
    • Translates feedback from partners, stakeholders, and the Aladdin client community into recommendations for improving the analytic product story
    • Trains analysts to investigate and answer client inquiries related to analytic focus area
    • Manages queue of client inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution
  • Thought Leadership
    • Demonstrate leadership in identifying key areas where our expertise in analytics and technology can be leveraged to create impact to the business
    • think actively and focus on direction of creating impact through analytics by leveraging existing platforms like Aladdin Insights etc
    • Liaise with invest teams and other stakeholders to develop efficient solutions stemming from expertise in analytics and technology


  • Participate in firm-wide analytics initiatives and/or strategic partner relationship initiatives
  • Engage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners across the firm
  • Stay up-to-date on global finance, geo-political scenario and technology trends impacting BlackRock
  • Delivering on projects of varying scale including standalone projects as well as large multi-location global impact project
  • Contribute to or lead the formulation of and execution of analytical solutions and thought leadership initiatives, addressing industry challenges and showcasing Aladdin capabilities and solutions
  • Work closely with the global BRS Analytics community (PAG, FMG, AQS and other leaders across the regions)
  • Partner with APAC analytics community to understand the needs /demand / use-cases for Portfolio Risk Models in the region
  • Keep abreast of recent trends in technology, quantitative finance, capital markets and regulation.
  • Identify areas for improvement in business processes and technology tools


Skills / Experience:

Candidates should have a demonstrated track record in tackling the difficult real-world problems of the investment management business. The hire will be expected to leverage extensive quantitative skills to diagnose and resolve issues that arise when dealing with complex portfolio optimization problems. Furthermore, all positions require outstanding quantitative, communication, and presentation skills.

  • 4 - 56 years of financial services or consulting experience with knowledge of investment management industry
  • Strong understanding and experience in Portfolio Risk Models, Stress Testing Techniques including Parametric, Full Revaluations, Historical simulation implied stress testing etc
  • Relevant experience and knowledge in a specific area with financial technology, quantitative research, financial modeling, investment analysis, risk management on broad portfolio level such as equity, fixed income, securitized and alternatives.
  • Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Management or some other quantitative field of study.
  • Project management expertise with demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous cross-functional initiatives.
  • Programming language skills are advantageous (e.g. VBA, Python, R)
  • Strong academic record and a degree with high mathematical content required e.g., Financial Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Management or some other quantitative field of study.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge in a specific area with financial technology, quantitative research, financial modeling, investment analysis, risk management on broad portfolio level such as equity, fixed income, securitized and alternatives.
  • Keen interest in financial markets and ability to comprehend the impact of market events
  • Knowledge of various analytics systems/tools and their underlying analytical models is desirable. Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with Excel, VBA and PowerPoint would be a must.
  • Pro-activeness, ability to multi-task, prioritize, set and meet deadlines, and strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and an ability to identify problems, design and articulate solutions, and implement change
  • Superb Interpersonal Skills: You will be expected to explain complex concepts to non-technical people in simple, intuitive terms
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or GARP designation is a plus
