What is the opportunity?

As an Associate in our Credit and Transaction Management team you will manage a portfolio of credit relationships within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets. You will work closely with other groups within Capital Markets and the Bank to deliver a full range of credit and banking services to multinational and other large corporate relationships.

What will you do?
  • For the assigned portfolio, you will be responsible for managing credit risk associated with syndicated and bilateral loan facilities and trading derivative lines. Tasks include preparation of credit renewals and amendments, performing quarterly and annual reviews, and reviewing loan documentation
  • Ensure compliance with loan agreements by verifying performance against financial covenants and margin limits
  • Ensure compliance with Bank Policy
  • Identify and assess deteriorating risk situations through analysis of financial reports and industry and economic data, and where necessary, propose a course of action to CTM management to ensure the safety of the bank's funds
  • Ensure that bank systems correctly reflect key terms and conditions of credit agreements and other documentation for the assigned portfolio
  • Interact extensively with other functions of RBC Capital Markets, the Bank and occasionally interact with clients, legal counsel and other external contacts


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:
  • MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA) or a post-graduate degree with a focus in business, accounting, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field
  • Ability to read and understand complex legal documents
  • Industry knowledge and/or prior experience within the Energy and/or Power and Utilities sector would be an asset
  • Strong credit and analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasoned conclusions and recommend a course of action
  • Previous banking experience with relationship management, structuring and writing of credit proposals, credit processes, policies, risk analysis would be an asset
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to interact at all levels within a large organization
  • Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong general PC Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
