The FX Risk Advisory Associate will support the FX Risk Advisory unit responsible for delivering a full range of risk management advice, quantitative exposure analysis and consultative technical accounting services to corporate and private-equity clients. Based in Northern California, will require travel domestically and internationally to support local FX sales teams, SVB relationship and product partners, and develop client relationships.

The FX Risk Advisory unit:

Provides advanced quantitative FX risk management advice including risk identification, analysis and hedge strategy recommendations.
Produces tailored, polished client deliverables to support analysis, recommendations and drive deals to close.
Supports national and international FX sales teams on complex risk management and hedging strategies, assisting the sales team close more transactions, develop relationships and enhance the SVB FX brand.
Proactively produces client facing research, analysis and hedge strategy ideas that can be leveraged by the broader sales team to generate client interactions and drive business.
Maintains and develops an advanced knowledge of relevant accounting guidance (ASC 815/830, IFRS 9) to educate clients, enhance the corporate risk management sales process and move more transactions to close.
Provides technical training and acts as an internal subject matter expert for the FX Sales & Trading teams and relationship managers.
Conducts external client seminars, webinars and on-site training. Speak at industry events where appropriate. Works closely with Head of FX Risk Advisory to develop and deploy FX marketing strategy.
Maintains a thorough, in-depth knowledge of the Bank's FX and interest rate products and services, while keeping up to date with market news and events.
Monitors trends and developments and recommends solutions that can enhance customer relationships, reduce customers' FX risk, generate income for the Bank, and retain and improve the Bank's competitive position in the market.
Responsible for managing client relationships through a consultative approach combined with excellent negotiation, presentation and cross selling skills.

Qualifications

Professional with less than 2 years' experience at a financial institution, economic consulting firm, accounting Big 4, or in corporate treasury/accounting.
Advanced understanding of financial risk, hedging, and derivatives.

Programming skills in VBA, Python, R, Stata or other
Knowledge of accounting and tax issues a plus.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with both internal and external clients.

Solid negotiating and closing skills.
Must be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.

Requirements
• Education - Undergraduate degree in quantitative discipline, M.S. degree a plus
• CFA designation or progress towards CFA
• Experience - 2 years or less
• Programming skills in VBA, Python, R, Stata or other
