Ally Invest - Investment Strategist

Position Description:

The Investment Strategist will be responsible for quantitative analysis that leads to idea generation of differentiated research and educational materials to drive increased engagement of Ally Invest customers. This position will assist in developing the firm's overall investment strategy and asset allocation guidance for Ally Invest clients. Deep analysis of market data, sector/industry data and individual stocks/ETFs will be critical in generating investment ideas for Ally Invests client base. Close collaboration with product strategy, marketing and PR will be critical to ensure we are developing insights that our customers care about. This individual will be responsible for articulating the firm's perspective in easy to understand language via written, verbal, social media and other means of communications. Backing up research with financial analysis will be critical.

Job Responsibilities:

· Perform financial analysis on the market, sectors, ETFs, stocks and the economy · Develop databases (excel, etc.) integral to creating differentiated research · Support the creation of a compelling Ally Invest investment outlook, content and education offering · Work with the Chief Investment Strategist to develop key investing themes and the path to execution of our content strategy · Write regular reports on market events impacting different asset classes or thematic reports · Demonstrate industry thought-leadership through various means -- PR, interviews, blog articles, marketing and online content · Create and manage a calendar for content output · Creatively find new ways to educate the Ally Invest customer, utilizing traditional channels such as email/CRM but also leveraging emerging technologies and digital interactions · Participate in Investment Policy Committee meetings · Serve as one of the primary experts on automated investing and Ally Invest Advisors evolution into wealth management; demonstrate industry thought-leadership through various means -- PR, interviews, blog articles, marketing and online content · Assist in portfolio research, construction, and rebalancing of the Ally Invest Advisors managed portfolio offerings · Maintain and manage the investment models and capital market assumptions which drive the Ally Invest Advisors portfolios · Design and implement relevant portfolio performance monitoring / comparisons for use in internal forums, as well as public- and customer- facing communications · Evaluate third-party models and investment frameworks in connection with expanding the suite of offerings across Ally Invest (both managed and self-directed) · Create and deliver communication and presentations to all levels of the organization · Manage relationships with cross-functional teams · Respond in real time to print media/journalist inquiries in connection with topics on personal finance, investment management and self-directed trading · Utilize internal resources to identify competitive differentiators, client usability, fulfillment and overall customer satisfaction

Qualifications:

• A strong background and/or interest in investment research & management and investment communications • A strong desire to educate individual investors • Experience with managed portfolio and/or advisory products • Understanding of modern portfolio theory and research • Have experience in back-testing investment strategies • Passion for the markets, the trading industry and investing • Demonstrate strong knowledge of a wide variety of asset classes (stocks, ETFs, bonds, commodities, derivatives, among others) • Solid foundation in economics and macro drivers of asset markets • Highly detail-oriented, intellectually curious, ability to multi-task and self-motivated • Able to exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks with little notice • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal • Strong spreadsheet skills. Must be an expert in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint • Advanced skills in VBA, Tableau, Power BI and Python is a plus • FINRA Series 65, or Series 7+ 66 licenses, or a CFA preferred • 5-8 years of experience in Financial Services Industry or investment research, banking or financial operations
