Summary Responsibilities:

Seeking an experienced and licensed Relationship Advisor as a team member in a private financial planning and wealth advisory office in Oakland, CA. Under the direction of a Senior Advisor, the Relationship Advisor supports all aspects of the financial planning process, including: relationship management, sales, new account opening, case analysis, development of recommendations, and implementation of the financial plans. The position requires the ability to work directly and independently with clients and provide dynamic financial advice and a robust array of investment solutions. This position will consistently follow high standards of fiduciary business and professional ethics as well as legal and regulatory requirements when dealing with clients and others in performing work activities.

Sales:

  • Possess the ability to explain financial planning, advisory services, and investment products.
  • Capable of identifying additional business opportunities with existing client relationships.
  • Use of data, eMoney reports, and supporting documentation to demonstrate significant points.
  • Ability to overcome objections and redirect clients to the solution at hand.
  • Prepare product illustrations, applications, and disclosure documents.
  • Attend seminars and networking events to meet other professionals and potential clients within the niche and community at large.

 

Financial Planning:

  • Serve as either primary or secondary advisor relationship providing individualized needs-based investment advice, comprehensive financial planning, and regular client review meetings.
  • Apply broad knowledge of financial products, services, and strategies to provide holistic advice.
  • Conduct comprehensive suitability review and provide recommendations based on client risk tolerance, goals, timelines, objectives, and individual preferences.
  • Build retirement income plans using eMoney, integrate data, and ensure all connections are current and linked.
  • Review cash levels quarterly and schedule Periodic Reviews with clients.

 

Meeting Preparation, Attendance, and Follow-up

Meeting Preparation:

  • Prepare agenda and main speaking points for each client meeting, including review of previous meeting notes to ensure follow-up on homework.
  • Prepare eMoney plans, product illustrations, applications, disclosure documents, charts, graphs, tables, and other visual aids to be used in implementation meetings with clients.

Meeting Attendance and Client Contact:

  • Attend most client meetings with Senior Advisor and get to know the clients over time.
  • Conduct client reviews for a majority of Senior Advisor’s clients.
  • Enter facts, income, expenses, and net worth into eMoney to build complete client profile.
  • Take relevant notes regarding goals, concerns, and issues that need to be addressed, and suitability concerns.

Meeting Follow-up:

  • Properly document and perform all follow-up service work in Redtail and eMoney.
  • Prepare and send follow-up communication of homework items to client for their action and records.

 

Investment Management:

  • Review of existing holdings, analyst ratings, and Morningstar reviews for changes in investment quality, performance, and manager changes.
  • Ensure current and proposed Asset Allocation matches time horizon and risk tolerance.
  • Review paperwork on file to verify that suitability matches to existing investments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the full array of annuity products in the marketplace.

 

Business Management/Customer Service:

  • Follow-up by phone and email on 100% of client correspondence and in-bound phone calls.
  • Maintain client contact during the financial planning process. Answer questions and provide information to clients to add value and consistently “touch” the client during the onboarding process.

 

Technology:

  • Act as primary manager of eMoney, Redtail, and Outlook for customer relationship management within the team.
  • Demonstrate proficient use and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Build portfolios and hypothetical illustrations using Morningstar Advisor Workstation.

 

Compliance:

  • Absolute commitment to adhere to rules and regulations as stated and required by Liberty Group.
  • Ability to support and provide guidance for compliance with Senior Advisor’s practice.

 

Education and Other Required Designations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Financial Planner designation preferred
  • 5 years in position with comparable responsibilities
  • Series 65 and California State life, accident, and health licenses
