Established in 1988, Timucuan Asset Management is a privately owned investment management firm located in Jacksonville, Florida. The firm provides asset management services for high-net-worth individuals, family offices and institutional investors.  Managed assets exceed $2 billion, and consist of separate client accounts and investment partnerships.  Client capital is invested in a value-oriented style via a concentrated portfolio of equity securities.

Senior Operations Associate:  Portfolio Administration, Compliance & Equity Trading

Primary responsibilities involve the active management of the firm’s Advent portfolio management system and firm-wide equity trading function.  Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in APX and Moxy.  Additional responsibilities will include client billing and reporting, serving as day-to-day operating liaison between Timucuan and custodial firms, oversight of firm regulatory compliance processes and partnership accounting and audits, as well as selected deliverables and follow-up in support of client service requests, and special projects as needed. 

Timucuan seeks someone who understands the value of working within a small team environment where everyone pitches-in in an effort to serve clients and fulfill firm needs.  The position requires organizational skills with an attention to detail, ownership of outcomes, and the capacity to multi-task and work within deadlines.  Additionally, the associate will need to have the ability and comfort level to correspond with clients and brokers, and handle requests concerning portfolio reporting, custodial documents, and other informational issues.  On the intangible side, Timucuan is looking for someone with a can-do attitude, an inherent sense of discretion, and a willingness and desire to take on varied projects, while always upholding a “client first” orientation. 

Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Administration
    • Be responsible for all tasks related to portfolio administration for client accounts
    • Maintain client and account data in APX
    • Ensure client accounts conform with firm portfolio composition model / weights   
    • Track and flag required rebalancing in client accounts 
    • Prepare quarterly billing, client reporting packages
    • Manage / oversee portfolio adherence to client-specific IPS stipulations re: equity exposure limitations, cash reserve
    • Oversee diary system for standing cash disbursement orders and other client cashiering requirements
    • Process client wire requests / transfers using multiple custodian platforms
    • Complete all tasks / documents related to opening of new accounts, transfer of accounts
  • Trading & Operations
    • Conduct trade build, pre-trade analysis in consultation Timucuan investment professionals
    • Trade fulfillment, Post-trade analysis
    • Trade execution:  maintain process to ensure compliance with firm best-execution policy
    • Maintain model portfolios as directed, monitor exceptions to targeted portfolios, position weights
    • Refine and implement procedures and documentation for firm’s operations function / trading best practices
  • Reconciliation & Accounting
    • Daily reconciliation of security positions and client accounts
    • Cash disbursements related to private investments
    • Process corporate actions in APX (Advent Corporate Actions)
    • Manage investment partnership accounting and oversee annual partnership audit process
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Prepare SEC filings (Form ADV et al)
    • Oversee and monitor procedures, processes, documentation, and compliance manual
    • Trade allocation - process review and adherence
    • Apply protocols documenting holdings, research, and trading activity of Timucuan’s investment committee
  • Marketing
    • Manage, update third-Party Performance Databases (i.e. eVestment Alliance)
    • Maintain Marketing Pitchbooks (update data / figures, other requests using PowerPoint & Excel)

 

 

Education and Experience

  • Established user of Advent products: 2+ year experience with APX and Moxy preferred
  • Experience with web-based custodian platforms, Advent product suite
  • Experienced in portfolio accounting and reconciliation – financial accounting background
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, familiarity with Junxure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Hard-working, dedicated, and punctual
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative work style
