Position Description:

The candidate will assume an Operations Specialist/Manager role within the Strategic Services and Transformation (SS&T) team, which is responsible for executing strategic initiatives globally. The incumbent will bring their strong operational excellence and program management background to support and/or lead firmwide initiatives, including the construction of PIMCO's composites globally, and maintaining the firm's compliance with the CFA Institute's Global Performance Presentation Standards (GIPS®). The incumbent will have frequent interaction with a variety of groups across the firm at all levels of seniority to foster career growth, including: Account Management, Product Strategy, Business Development Services, Marketing, Legal and Technology. Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting and/or leading large-scale operational excellence initiatives, delivering valuable insights, and designing and implementing business change with a focus on technology, people, and processes;
  • Understanding the strategic direction as it relates to team goals and translating them into actionable deliverables;
  • Employs creative thinking and innovation to create possible alternative solutions, and uses judgment to determine methods and procedures on new assignments with minimal guidance;
  • Maintaining the firm's compliance with the CFA Institute's GIPS®, including implementation of new standards;
  • Assisting with constructing new composites;
  • Interpreting client guidelines/contracts for derivative exposure;
  • Translating information to enter and code discretions into internal system;
  • Resolving guideline/coding or interpretation discrepancies;
  • Reviewing and investigating monthly performance outliers;
  • Preparing and reviewing compliant disclosure presentations;
  • Documenting processes and ensuring adherence to established procedures;
  • Compiling and validating Monthly Performance Summaries for distribution to Product Strategy;
  • Compiling account/composite reports for Performance Marketing;
  • Supporting the firm wide verification process through compiling requested supporting documentation; and
  • Assisting with issues or questions related to composite selection and presentation for RFP's and RFI's

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Economics
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial/investment management experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an operational role with specific focus on business transformation and continuous improvement, including: identifying, designing, building, and implementing strategies or operational processes that enhance business performance, automate processes, and/or create a user-friendly experience
  • A hands-on practitioner with the ability to shift between operational and strategic mindsets
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate across all levels
  • Strong program management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate unstructured processes and to simultaneously manage responsibilities of multiple/concurrent work streams and competing demands
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of investment strategies and how they are employed (e.g., Fixed Income, Alternative Investments)
Preferred Requirements
  • CIPM designation
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel Macros/Visual Basic and Business Objects
