INVESTMENT BANKING ANALYST Laurentian Bank Securities is an integrated full-service bank-owned investment dealer, with multiple lines of business including fixed income, retail brokerage, foreign exchange, corporate lending and capital markets. Our capital markets group provides a full suite of services to our clients including corporate finance advisory, capital raising, and institutional equity research, sales and trading. To support our expanding operations, our Energy Investment Banking team is looking to add a full-time Analyst to the Calgary office.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES:

Participate as part of a team of bankers who initiate, source and execute M&A and capital markets transactions

  • Contribute to the development and communication of proposals to current and prospective clients of the firm
  • Build and maintain financial databases for the oil and gas industry
  • Prepare financial models and analytical support for merger and acquisitions and capital markets analysis
  • Perform company, industry, market and competitor research and due diligence
  • Work with industry/product partners on client marketing materials and deal execution
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree majoring in finance, accounting, economics, or engineering
  • Work experience in investment banking, corporate finance, credit analysis or accounting is preferred
  • Exceptional work ethic and motivation with a willingness to work for extended hours as required
  • Strong team player with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Keen interest in corporate finance, company valuation, financial markets and the energy industry
  • Ability to manage time and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and geoSCOUT is considered an asset
  • Enrollment in/or successful completion of the CFA program or other relevant professional designation is considered an asset
