Basic Purpose:

Independently executes trades for Corporate Ladder portfolios and other QSG product strategies using technology-driven and more traditional trading techniques.  Oversees trading for QSG strategies and plays an important role in the broader implementation and ongoing management of those products.  In addition to trade execution, the QSG Trader will review proprietary expert system output, direct trade flow to various electronic trading venues, interact with the credit team, and provide market feedback to improve the performance and efficiency of the trade generation process.  Supports the distribution team, financial advisors and their clients by providing insight into market conditions, the portfolio implementation process and all QSG product offerings.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Electronic Trade Execution
    • Execute corporate bond trades using appropriate trading methods and venues based on market conditions and order details.  Aggregate orders as appropriate in an effort to build scope and scale.
    • Execute trades in a manner consistent with the DFI trade management procedures and assess in the context of our “best execution” framework.
    • Monitor data input and assess expert system results for reasonableness, accuracy and execution priority.
    • Employ other DFI trading resources as required to manage trade flow volume.
    • Interface with the EV Investment Operations team as QSG’s primary contact to ensure timely and accurate trade and account data exchange.
  • QSG Portfolio Implementation Process and Scalability
    • Provide trading liquidity feedback to the portfolio construction system in order to improve the efficiency of the process.
    • Leverage trading and work flow expertise to suggest improvements and opportunities to automate the portfolio implementation process to build efficiencies and scalability.
    • Interact with DFI Credit team to manage the Ladders Approved Issuer List day-to-day.
  • Client Service and Product Support
    • Field calls from the salesforce and their financial advisor clients to provide market, specific account and investment process information and perspective.
    • Support product and relationship management functions in distribution as part of initial and ongoing product due diligence process.

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 - 5 years relevant investment and trading experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of fixed income markets.
  • Advanced PC computer skills including Bloomberg, electronic trading systems and other industry software.  Strong math orientation and numerical aptitude, high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.  Strong customer service orientation toward both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team that interacts with other EV investment and support functions.
  • The work flow is usually self paced, time sensitive, and high volume.  Usually several tasks are performed concurrently, requiring the ability to determine the most critical tasks and prioritize work accordingly.  Must be able to meet deadlines under time constraints with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
