Role Purpose
Assist in providing comprehensive statistical analysis and interpretation of the team's output on core products across all the global investment strategies, with a specific emphasis on Equity portfolios. Provide timely Investment Commentary of the highest standard for the Quarterly Governance and Global Reporting of GPAD. Coordinate the Global Governance cycle. Generate portfolio analysis reports, assess risk sensitivities and assist in providing portfolio analysis support to fund managers' requests. Ensure the analytical toolset available on fund manager desktops allows for accurate and informed decision making.
Major Challenges
Ensure deadlines are met in delivering the team's portfolio analysis, reporting and governance output. Ensure efficient communication while coordinating the Governance cycle. The focus should be on ensuring data integrity, timely delivery and on providing an insightful challenge on the equity portfolios.
Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)
Provide comprehensive risk analysis and portfolio analytics service to the global CIO office and the front office function for all investment strategies managed globally by HSBC AMG., with a specific emphasis on Equity strategies. The role is based in London working within the Global Portfolio Analytics & Design team. The role will produce analytical and investment support and investment commentary to global CIOs, senior managers and investment professionals.

Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Observation of Internal Controls
Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Understand the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, HSBC Global Asset Management's TCF philosophy and how this affects your role. Act in a manner that takes account of these principles to ensure fair outcomes for customers
Role Dimensions (e.g. balance sheet size, lending/expenditure limits, size/volume of transactions, budget. in USD'000)
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Experience in an investment risk / portfolio analytics capacity with a good understanding of equity risk models (e.g. PORT, Style Research) and modern portfolio theory. Knowledge of other asset classes beyond equity will be preferred. Practical application of risk / other analytical systems with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to see the detail as well as to draw conclusions on the key issues of a portfolio analysis report. Experience in investment writing and minute taking of a great quality is required. Good academic record, preferably within finance, science or economics with CFA or equivalent an advantage. Bloomberg and PORT experience will be preferred. Positive and proactive attitude with flexibility to accommodate changing environment and willingness to take on new responsibilities. Diligence to ensure data integrity and confidence to push towards timely delivery of output. Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels.
